Waiting
While doorman looks after the luggage.... We tried to book a Yangtze Cruise through the hotel.
But all they could offer was, the local cruise.
(This they said was because of their week long national holiday).
We had already been warned about this cruise,
they don't provide food and you have to pay extra to go on top deck.
No pot noodles for us!!! Been there done that!!! (Thanks for the warning Janne) We decided to try on-line, luckily we found one.
Four star all inclusive on the President 4 Yangtze River Cruise....
The day started well.
After our hotel all-you-can-eat breakfast (8rmb), we packed.
Our guide picked us up at 12.30pm and delivered us safely to the boat.
Knowing we didn't start the cruise till the following morning, we needed to find food for that evening.
Decided to go on shore and find a shop....
Passing through the docks at Chongqing was an experience in it's self.
A smelly run down area. We passed what we thought was a fruit and veg market.
But
Not long to wait now
Looks like Peters just pulled up the stench coming from there, ruled out a visit!!!!
We eventually found an unexpected (massive & clean) Carrefour and having time to kill,
we wandered round to see what was on offer.
Decided not to try the frogs, turtles, crabs and fish,
that were trying to escape from their tanks.
Perhaps if they were cooked, it would have been different........ Much to my amazement, Skim did try the snails that were being dished out.
(Gonna have to think twice about snogging her now)!!!
At 6am the next morning, we started our journey.
Heading for Feng Du to visit the Ghost City.
A buffet breakfast followed soon after.......
For the first time we met our table companions, who we would join every meal time.
They were a great bunch of characters - Thank goodness.
Enjoy the pictures of our day.........
