hi all, this weekend we visited a beautiful nature reserve in northern Sichuan (10hr drive each way) but most of our time we spend resting in Changdu and eating well. after our last blog entry we also have some pictures of us eating so our parents don't come with pots of food 😊 Hagit's thesis was about "feast or famine" in bacteria. we are living in the same way 😊 the weather also ... the center is actually a big zoo that has only 1 kind of animal - Pandas. this place has the best sucsess in breeding pandas in captivity

most of the day the pandas sleep. sometimes they wake up to eat

we were there a few hours and enjoyed them when they actually did something

the young ones play 1hr a day.

but only rarly are they so active that they run up trees while playing

we just couldn't get enough of them all flufy and cute

Chengdu

Chengdu is a large western city with wide avenues. it is realativly new. the old town was bolduzed to make room for the city and only a few old buildings remain

the main diffrence to a real Europen or American city is the large number of padestirens and bicycles

At Starbucks...not the best coffee in the world. actually not the best in Changdu but still is was a rare decent cup of coffee in China so we were happy

here are we eating in Pizza Hut. we also had pizza in a real italian resturant after finishing a cream-of-salmon pasta with room to spear. in the Italian resturant we also drank excelent cappuchino (no coffee in china did we say ?!)

at pete's tex=mex we eat a HUGE meal: cream-of-mashroom soup, beef stew, beef buriito with all the toppings, 12oz NY syroloin steak, salads, waffels, coke and diet coke. it was the most expensive meal to day - 7USD p/p :) it was EXCELENT and our 2 person expedition rates this as the BEST TEX MEX outside of the American continant

since we couldn;t finish the waffel we took it to the hotel and warmed it in the mirco for breakfest. had it with our black coffee and HEL we brough from home

It's getting better all the time
A. Your Jiuzhaigou pictures are amazing. I know that in many of those places you just cannot fail (click at a random direction and you have a postcard), but still they are beautiful. I can't wait to see the full size file, or better yet printed on 60X80. B. Sounds like the food is getting better as well- is it the general trend, or are you getting more picky? (Or did someone's parents scare them with "you're getting so thin I'm coming to get you...) C. Nice touch with the MaoDonald's picture ;-)
