every picture was a postcard there it was difficult to choose what to show. this is at Panda waterfall
hi all,
this weekend we visited a beautiful nature reserve in northern Sichuan (10hr drive each way) but most of our time we spend resting in Changdu and eating well. after our last blog entry we also have some pictures of us eating so our parents don't come with pots of food 😊

Hagit's thesis was about "feast or famine" in bacteria. we are living in the same way 😊

the weather also improved it was sunny in the low 20s so we are very relaxed

games

Chinese are VERY fond of pool. there are pool tables anyplace you go. on the high passes of the "backdoor" there were poll tables hundreds of kms from the nearest person except for the 2-3 people playing at the table at the time.
The next popular sport is basketball. we have seen courts everywhere. the funniest ones are on sides of mountains. every time there the ball goes out you need to go 1000m down the hill to get the ball. NBA games are always being shown live at the convenient time of noon.

Internet cafes

every small town has one although the connection is not always that reliable. the cafes are not made for foreigners but for young Chinese. they come and play net games for hours at a time. most popular is a game where you control a dancing girl. you need to dance better then your network companions. also NBA2006 is very strong here. Internet is always cheap (1-2NIS and hour) and full of young smoking kids

cellular phones

it seems everyone has it here. Every peasant that still wears Moe suits from the 70s has one. every Yak herder that did not shower since ever has one. kids have one. old people have one. and I don't mean the cheap low-end phones. they all pack the best models.

We also saw some advertisments for bluetooth. if each chinese buys a bluetooth phone then MCS can make good money 😊

We also bought a phone. it is handy for keeping in touch with home when we don't have Internet and to call guesthouses when we arrive in a new city to find a place to stay. if you want to SMSs us or call then write us and we will give you the number.

icecream car

if you here an icecream car music in China don't go running out with money so quickly. Instead, when you here the music you should know that the GARBGE car has arrived and you can come out and through your own junk.

It's getting better all the time
A. Your Jiuzhaigou pictures are amazing. I know that in many of those places you just cannot fail (click at a random direction and you have a postcard), but still they are beautiful. I can't wait to see the full size file, or better yet printed on 60X80. B. Sounds like the food is getting better as well- is it the general trend, or are you getting more picky? (Or did someone's parents scare them with "you're getting so thin I'm coming to get you...) C. Nice touch with the MaoDonald's picture ;-)
