Wen Jun
We loved our hotel. View from the courtyard. John and Meredith found a new camera, so all is well! We had a great time during the rest of our stay in Chengdu. It is a fascinating city with such a unique feel to it. John and I think the Wen Jun Hotel (where we stayed in Chengdu) has been our favorite lodging so far. Outside of our room, there was a table for two that overlooked the courtyard below. So, each night after the girls went to sleep, we would sit outside the door and play cards and talk. If you ever make your way to this city, make sure you stay there! The people who worked there took such great care of us.
With a new camera in hand, we resumed our sightseeing. We made sure to visit more of the city's teahouses. While John and I enjoyed our piping hot green tea, the girls played and colored in their coloring books. It made for a perfect afternoon. We also took some time to visit the Green Ram Monestary and the Qingyanggong Taoist Temple. This particular temple is said to be where the Taoist faith really took off. The temple grounds were striking and we found ourselves
Table
The table outside our room was wonderful. Many games of cards were played here!! surrounded by tourists and worshippers alike...and a ton of incense!
Chengdu is famous for food. As the capital of the Sichuan province, their food is steaming and spicy! Hot Pot is their specialty and we ate a ton of it! Most of the tables have a built in open flame and a "hot pot" of boiling broth in the center. During our stay, we ate chicken, shrimp, lotus root, noodles, Chinese cabbage, and many other yummy morsels.
Our next stop is Guilin (for one night) and then to Yangshuo. We'll update you soon on our travels!
