Got into Pingyao at 5.30 am and cuaght a motrobike.taxi to our hostel. well i say our hostel it was the name of one i could remember that was near it cos i forgot the name of our hostel. Luckily it was opposite so it was ok. Checked in and went straight to sleep which was very welcoming because my neck was hurting after trying to sleep upright.
When we woke up a few hours later we decided to explore Pingyao. Our hostel was so beautiful, it was like an old fashioned chinese courtyard and it was all for 30p a night. The whole town is really old fashioned as well its one of the few remaining ancient walled citys in China. Had lunch then went shopping. bought a compass that actually points south for Nathan and Ruths wedding present. oops. Then went outside the city walls and sat by a lake and watched a couple modelling wedding dresses. Now in china their taste in wedding dresses is pretty hideous they like things flamboyant with extra flamboyant and probablye extra flammable as well. French renaissance seems to be quite a good theme! Then we relaxed in the hotel for a bit and a few hours later went out for dinner. First we watched a talnet show by the southwest gate whuch was an old couple basically wailing for an hour so decided to leave and find the noodle place in our guide book. Couldnt find it so instead had dinner in a cafe that had no english menus so just pointed at things and hoped for the best. luckily it was all delicious. Then it was back to the hostel and bedtime
