Shanghai
Famous statue of Mao near The Bund Well it’s over; my time in Shanghai is finished as of 1600 today when I fly out with Singapore airlines.
So to leave you all with a last blog here’s some random pictures and thoughts of my time in this are of China.
People are so willing to help, anywhere anytime I have had a translating problem complete strangers will offer to assist.
Issues such as pushing and shoving do exist but it’s not in a competitive sense it’s rather just to get things happening. When you line up at the metro and buses there is a massive race for seats, but then calmness descends and no one has issues if they miss out. You just hardly ever hear arguments or see fights, (traffic accidents excepted)
The main streets are immaculate other than the spit balls. Not a leaf or a twig or piece of paper is around. Go one street away from the main areas and it looks like a rubbish tip with discarded everything put anywhere there is ground.
The only people you see out and about are active, you have to be to cope with the stairs and walking and general pace of
Shanghai
West Nanjing Road near People's Square life. Where are all the infirm? I suspect at home and very rarely venturing out, it’s just too hard to go anywhere as it all involves quickly getting on and off public transport.
People work incredibly hard, heavy loads to carry on bikes, cooking in the cold on the street corners, scrubbing and washing in cold water.
China is a great holiday destination with lots of English, street signs, menus, people who speak English, everywhere.
