Although Matt was off to work and the kids were off to school, Thanksgiving in Shanghai was still a great occasion! Brentley and I had made it back to our friends' home, were rested and ready to see more of the city.

We headed to the wet market for a bit of window shopping and then Sheri took us for a quick walk along the Bund. The air was crisp and our steps were quick. We did take a peek inside the Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank. Built in 1921 inside there are some delightful murals. Outside the building the two bronze lions were a must stop... to rub the lions' paws and head will supposedly bring you good luck!

Once we had posed in front of the lions we headed to Nanjing Lu, Shanghai's foremost shopping street. We stopped for lunch at a noodles restaurant and found Brentley a taxi home then... Sheri and I hit the pearl shops! Once we had our shopping fix we headed home for Thanksgiving Dinner, a la Shangha style! BUT, on the way we stopped for a bit of roasted chesnuts, and I know the woman who selled them to us wished we would quickly leave because in Thanksgiving style, Sheri and I started singing "Chesnuts roasting on an open fire..." A great way to start off the holiday season.l

Sheri had planned for a local restaurant to prepare our turkey and boy was it a feast (and according to Sheri and Matt - nothing like they have been able to obtain in China so far). Turkey, wonderful potatoes, gravy, squash, soup and even pumpkin pie! We are blessed!
