The Terracotta Warriors
Hello from Xi'an where the weather is distinctively more wintry and the food somewhat spicier!

Firstly a small amendment - in our last entry we said that we climbed the Great Wall - we meant we climbed part of it - it is considerably bigger than the 10k we trekked!! Also, we have finally figured out how to upload photos so please revisit the previous entries to check them out.

We are in Xi'an now. We went to see the Terracotta Warriors today. An army of thousands of Terracotta Warriors buried with Emperor Qin near his mausoleum. This is the same emperor who was reponsible for the construction of the Great Wall. It's really hard to describe what we saw today in words and you'll understand when you see the pics.

We went to the Muslim quarter yesterday to visit the great mosque and practice our bargaining skills at the market. It was fascinating to see Chinese muslims.

We're having Sichuan Hotpot for dinner tonight - looking forward to that!! We leave tomorrow for Chengdu to see the Giant Pandas. Does any one know if there are any other kind of Pandas besides giant ones? We were

trying to figure that out earlier. We have a 16 hour train journey to Chengdu!! We may actually start reading the books we brought with us - we haven't even opened them yet.

You may not hear from us for a while as from Chengdu we are going to the monasteries so not sure of the email facilities. We'll write again soon.

Please keep posting your messages - it's nice to get them. We're just not publishing them for general viewing.

Till next time. Lots of Love
