I tried leaving Jingdezhen on the Saturday night flight (only flight) but when I got to the airport it had been cancelled. I had to return to the youth hostel for another night and take a flight they scheduled for the next morning. When in Shanghai I got together with Mojia who I had sat next to on a flight from Beijing to Seattle three years earlier. At that time she was returning to school in Atlanta. We have stayed in touch and she now has graduated and is about to start working in Shanghai.

We met Lyn at the SAS (Shanghai Art Space) gallery. Lyn shows her work her and introduced me to the gallery director. They kept the three pieces I brought with and will exhibit them.

SAS is a very international gallery showing work of many foreign artists living in China and some with a connection like mine.

Last night of nine weeks in China. Work is in transit, met many new and interesting people, got to hang out with established friends around China. I felt completely satisfied by all I accomplished and ready to go home where I begin to contemplate if I should return next summer. In some ways I thought this might be a China swan song summer as most of my work will now be with me. I still want to have some large pieces make it through the firings and some new ideas of how to use the amazing porcelain brewing. I know the year I decide to stay home or travel somewhere else will feel strange and I will miss my China summer very much. Time will tell.
