Jingdezhen

Last night of nine weeks in China. Work is in transit, met many new and interesting people, got to hang out with established friends around China. I felt completely satisfied by all I accomplished and ready to go home where I begin to contemplate if I should return next summer. In some ways I thought this might be a China swan song summer as most of my work will now be with me. I still want to have some large pieces make it through the firings and some new ideas of how to use the amazing porcelain brewing. I know the year I decide to stay home or travel somewhere else will feel strange and I will miss my China summer very much. Time will tell.

We packed all the work in foam and bubble wrap before contacting the local shipper man. He brought in a crate maker who made five HUGE crates to ship work back to Minnesota thanks to funding from my Minnesota State Arts Board Grant. ... read more
