And now a few spring photos from the campus of TTC. Our beautiful garden-campus makes a walk an adventure in color every spring.

Every year, more plantings on our campus produce a beautiful introduction to spring time.

Willow trees line our picturesque lake in the center of the campus, and create the image of a painting.

Rich spring colors, and a look toward our Technology Bldg. make the Taizhou Teachers College campus one unique in the city of Taizhou, Jiangsu.

From the 4th floor of the English office building, the lush green of Spring 2008 surrounds our small lake. To the right are some of the dorms for our students.

On another 2008 Spring-day, the colors of the season are to be seen everywhere, while the citizens of Taizhou enjoy the break from a long and cold winter. Walk with me. This is my home in China, the center of Taizhou.

The golden blooms of the rape-seed flowers sway in the spring winds of 2008. These fields are actually part of the center of Taizhou, and their fragrance permiate the air around them.

A close-up of the flower of the rape plant defines their color. Their fragrance is unique and delightful. A brush against them with your clothing will stain them with blotches of golden pollen.

Continuing my walk along Taizhou's river lets me meet this lady, who is scraping the river floor for small river-snails, a delicacy and often visible on the dinner tables of expensive restaurants. Spring has warmed the water, for her to wade comfortably. She will surprise her family at dinner this day.

Kites are a favorite in China during warm spring days. They are beautiful and colorful and on sale in all of the parks of Taizhou every spring.

Ensconced in the flowers of spring along the shores of Taizhou's river parks. These are the blossoms I imagine in paradise.

This photo is one to enlarge. Mommy makes good use of a trashbarrel, holding her child as it deposits a new, more smelly, content into the barrel. :-) Behond the make-shift WC is a colorful, plastic amusement park, catering to the youngest of Taizhou on this warm spring day.

Further along the river walk, we pass the old primary school of Mr. Hu Jintao, current President of the PRC. The greenery is part of the green belt, that now surrounds the "old" inner-city of Taizhou.

A look into the grounds of Mr. Hu Jintao's former primary school is one of eager children playing one of China's favorite sports, PingPong. The building to the left is the modern, new primary-school building.

Continuing our stroll along the canal surrounding Taizhou, we now enter Taizhou's oldest park, Taishan Park. It is crowded with visitors of all ages, each enjoying the parks attractions in their own way. There will be roller-bladers, anglers, even newly-weds taking their obligatory wedding-photos.

Within Taishan Park there is an amusement park. On one of the ponds, a youngster enjoys an old paddle ride.

A western face in Taizhou always becomes a "star", and eager children will shout the few words of English they have learned in primary school. These 3 youngsters were excited to pose with me, and giggled with joy at understanding my English greetings.

Taishan Park, in the center of Taizhou, is a wonderful place to spend a warm spring day. Lush green plantings, water, rocks, and pavillions makes one forget the noise and activities of a quickly growing Chinese city.

Taishan Park in Taizhou is well maintained, and remains the park most visited by the locals. When most newly created parks cost you an entrance fee, this park may be enjoyed free of charge.

Taishan Park remains the local's favorite park. It is one, in which I often spend hours, reminiscing the gardens of my home in Florida.

In Taishan Park too, beautiful kites are offered to fly in the winds of spring. One of the mascots for the Beijing Olympics, one of the friendlies, make this kite a beauty.

Earthquake
Herr Schneider, I have been hearing and listening about the earthquake that has taken so many lives in China and at this moment remembered that you were still there. I wanted to know if you were well. I hope that you are and to hear from you soon. Best wishes, and hoping you are safe. Best wishes, Bruno

Herr Schneider, I admit, I have been lax in my attention, though not my memory of you over the years. It's been a long time, and I hope it isn't too late. These are trying times, especially in your current home, and I have a sneaking suspicion you would do what you are capable of to help alleviate the immense human suffering in China due to natural chance. I fear that might be risky. At any rate, I have no knowledge of your status now, and I hope you are well and safe, as are your friends and colleagues over there. If you are, and you are not consumed by work, I would be pleased to hear from you, both to alleviate my concern for your health and to catch up with you. I'll leave it at that for now; a reliable email address should be listed along with this. Your student, Joe
