Chinese puppy!
He is cute and old and well behaved (besides the pooping in the shower part) I feel so lucky! Maybe it was karma again, or just pure luck, but i almost didnt make it home! I took the bus to school today and went to my favorite coffee shop. After reading for a bit i decided to walk to westlake and just stroll around. I tried going to one of my favorite restaurants across the lake called "the grandmas" but the line was out the door and i didnt want to wait. I was losing daylight and wanted to make sure i caught a bus back home. I settled for pizza hut, thinking i would get a small personal pizza. It was so fancy! They had steak and red wine, and get this.. Spaghetti! Haha, and it was all furnished with red stained wood and fancy leather chairs. It was nothing like the pizza hut back home. I got a nice big green salad and some waffle fries. The dressing for my salad was served in a fancy silver cup thingy. Although i have done a sober trip, i decided to get a glass of red wine because it was "happy hour" and was half off.. It cost a whopping $2! Only in china do they
Fancy dinner for one
Pizza hut happy hour... Holla!! have happy hour red wine at pizza hut! It felt good to eat some familiar food, i sat happily by myself reading my book and sipping my glass of wine. Its weird not talking much, since joohee left the only few words i say a day are my phone calls to nick and my broken Chinese. It makes for a lot of time to "talk" in my head. The only friend i have at the hostel is the dog, and i think he speaks Chinese not english, haha i still talk to him in English anyways. This morning when i went to brush my teeth i saw a dog poop in the shower!! Well at least i hope it was a dog poop! I decided no showers for me until the next hostel.. Only 6 days to go! I bet i get really smelly.. But its better then showering in a poopy shower! ... Only in china do dogs poop in the shower. Luckily the dog is cute or i would be really upset haha. Anyways, after a nice dinner i trekked over to the bus line that i knew would take me to the other side of the lake, where i would have to get off and get on another bus. The traffic was horrible so it took awhile, but i finally made it to the other side. I knew i had to take bus#197 and one passed me on the way to the stop. I knew my time was limited so i started getting anxious. I know how to hail a taxi but honestly its a pain in the butt and they always take me the long way so it ends up being really expensive. I sat for a good 30 minutes watching all the buses just pass the stop because they were so pack. My bus finally pulls up, its so packed and i tried squeezing in but the door wouldnt shut and the bus driver screamed at me to get off. I tried again 30 minutes later, same thing happened! I started getting pissed because it was then raining really hard and i knew there would only be one or two buses left. After waiting again another one pulls up, super packed, but i put on my tough perri face and headed towards the back door this time and not the front door. I wasnt the only person trying to get on this bus either, but i had been waiting the longest so i knew i deserved to get on. The back was packed and i first attempted to get on, and it looked like i wasnt going to fit anyways, then i got pushed out! At first i was pissed but then i saw someone was trying to get off, the other people trying to get on gave up and walked away but i stood my ground ready to make my move the second the other person got off. If one gets off there has to be room for one to get on! Sure as shit i was right and i made my move just as the door squeezed me in and really loudly i was like "YESSS!!" The people around me laughed, im sure they have experienced what i just experienced before. Then the trick was staying on when the doors opened at each stop, and my foot got pinched a few times but i made it back! I officially experienced and survived my first Chinese sardine bus ride! And the best thing about it was it was free because there was no way for the driver to get my fare. Now im back, snuggling in bed, listening to the rain. I can smell my feet from here but i have to get used to it because there is no way im showering in the poopy shower! Lesson learned today, take the bus home before rush hour, not during it!
