It cost about 3 bucks and has such a big wristband it can go up to his elbow or halfway down his palm.
So we are officially students at Zhejiang University for the next six weeks. This morning I had 4 steamed buns, rice porridge, and 2 fried eggs for about 75 cents. So far China has just been a lot of banquets and meeting people and sight seeing. I had a 3 day period where I didn't have internet so there's a big gap in my diary. Lets start with yesterday:

Woke up and had a similar breakfast to the above. I had gone to bed at 11 PM and woken up around 8 AM so my jet lag was gone. Me, John Bevins, and Avery Mccoy walked all around the local area. We got to the adult playground (next entry will show it), the yellow dragon sports centre, and the soccer stadium. It took us a while, but we eventually found the Trust-Mart, the Chinese equivalent to Wal-Mart. There was a whole live animal section with eels, turtles, tilapia, all kinds of fish. Something i've noticed is that where americans would grind up certain meats and turn it into a ground chuck, the Chinese will eat anything. I found pig snouts, pig legs, pig tails, A pig sliced down its spine

and cooked. I ate my first fish head the other day and it wasn't bad, although it was crunchy. It is also not impolite here to spit your bones back out onto your plate when you get done chewing, because many things have bones in them. Right outside of Trust-Mart was a McDonald's, and we were missing western food a lot by now and so we indulged ourselves. Three big macs later, all three of us were full and heading back to Zhejiang University.

We met up with a group of Chinese students who plan on coming to NCSU this summer, and we took a tour bus to West Lake. Whereas Hangzhou is considered the most beautiful city in China, West Lake is considered the most beautiful part of Hangzhou. It is called West Lake because it is to the west of the city. There are about 20 similar lakes in China located to the west of a city and thus called West Lake, but this is the most famous. We took a boat tour, saw a lady in a wedding dress, and just shared stories with our Chinese comrades. Thankfully, their English is considerably better than our Chinese.

After West Lake, we went to a very popular shopping street that I can't remember the name of. The professors said that we had 30 minutes to look around if we wanted to catch the bus back, so wanting to fully experience the area and sit down and eat, we missed the bus. The street vendors are more expensive than the commercial stores, but you can bargain prices down to being possibly lower than the commercial stores. John bought some nunchuks for about 2 US dollars. We were walking around with Yan Fang and Zhu, two Chinese engineering students. We walked all up and down the street and then ate some "street meat". I got 4 skewers with pork on them and fried rice with bacon bits that was put inside a hollowed half-pineapple. We finished up with some Dairy Queen and a nice 1.5 hour conversation. It was fairly easy to get where we wanted to go this time because we had Chinese students to tell the cab driver where we wanted to go. Xiexie for listening-
