scene
a Dong woman After an unsuccessful trip in Guangxi, Hezhou and Sanjiang, trying to located some Yao subgroup, although without much anticipation, still I wish I could spot some tribe that I hadn't seen before, but none repaid my effort. I then pressed further west into Qiandongnan, Guizhou. The heat wave still presist but the temperature seem tune down a little bit. Athough all towns or cities in China look pretty much the same, but you still feel a bit different once step into the soil of Guizhou. for me...the lodging always seem a bit down grade and run down(according with my traveling standard), there was less Kuai-can style chiness fast-meal, which I relied a lot when traveling alone, you pay a few kuai and got a filled up plate with certain kind of dishes. I did entered Guizhou from Congjiang, the place I had visted 8 years ago, the town had been expanded more eastward and a great deal of face-lefting renovation work had been added on all the buildings, you really didn't need my describe, you'd seen it all...just picture any other tourist town in China and you know what Congjiang is look like now!, a flying roof-top and decorated with wooden
window frame is the calling card for every town in China when they claimed to be an old town that came from a long way with great history! but...no one could tell you more than 2 lines about how great and deep...in cultural or ethnically! Congjiang now offered more better quality guesthouse than before, re-read my journal from 8 years ago, I actually stay at the same place, but now they had upgraded some rooms with toilet and internet, but of course...price went up to 50!
Dong and Miao are the majority ethnic in this part of Guizhou, so...sure I will saw them all when I visited Guandong and Longer market. and tracing the route down to the lively market in Shuikou where I also seen the Yao, which is the same subgroup that I had seen few month ago in Leli right at the Guangxi border. but still...no surprise! I want to see something new...where can I find some new images??? I was chewing grilled pork and sticky rice in the market, this is one of my favour while touring market in the last few day, very very Yunnan's Dai style! consulting my map and searching for next
destination...where...where...where??? I pick Liping area further north, which is one of the favour destination for traveler...because of the small scenic Dong town "Zhaoqing". I had been there 8 years ago so this time I heading to Liping instead, with a single town's sight-an typical old street "Xiangjie" and boast couple of Red revolution site. Hoping to find some appealling market places, no difficult in getting a market list, but most of them are not really interesting by comments. I made an effort to Dunzhai this morning, well....I took the next return bus back in town for another 90 mins journey! my trophy today from the market was....3 jin(chinese kilo) of pear for only...only...1 yuan!!!!! inflation is getting really high in China nowaday, but but...look at here, they seem immuned! but was it? how come?? I had no answer. perhaps because they don't consumed anything from the outside, they trade and made bussiness locally with their own products. or whatever products they find in the market are fake, defected, so price could be low and down-tuned the inflation noise. could be this reason, thing look ok but actually doesn't work ok. just like the guesthouse I'd staying by the bus station
yesterday, really got the indian feel! light button control the bulb not the way I expect, switch on the button by the door and the toilet light on, but many buttons just mal-function! the tv look fine but when press the sound button then the blue screen and menu shown, and refused to back to tv program...no other button work further on! owner came...the first thing he did was tune down the electric fan, switched off my toilet light(was it magic control?)...every buttons had been squeezed and still no picture. he kept mumbleing thing like...I shouldn't have touch that button that button... I looked at him with my super big small size eyes and said nothing. was it my mistake??? finally...he shipped in another tv set that only work with 2 different remote control!!! no wondered I still could get 3 jin of pear for 1 kuai here...you know what I mean!
