There were a number of touring monks but the large size of the grounds gave us lots of chances for solitude.

After the din of the city (the horn tooting was ongoing), the quiet of the mountaintop was a great balm

Many of these shrines were destroyed during the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, but this one did survive.

We toured this large series of caves, which were filled with kitschy representatives of Chinese culture. This series of dioramas was the zenith.
