CCTV Building
The CCTV Building. Great architecture Today, my cousin Winston is coming to our house. Winston lives in Canada. As usual, in the morning I did my routine of finishing my homework before breakfast, eating breakfast, and then playing for a while. At 8:00, my grandfather and I went to the SOHO area in Beijing to receive our Olympic tennis tickets. My grandfather took me there by his motorbike. In the SOHO district there are many tall buildings like the CCTV building. As we neared the area, I could see towering skyscrapers as tall as the Chrysler Building. To receive our tickets, we had to go to a tall white building and park our bike in the car parking. Inside the ticket stand, there were a couple of ladies that were behind a desk. We went to one and she gave us our tickets and said I was very lucky. When we drove away, my grandfather took me to see the CCTV building up close. The building was also built for the Olympics. It is shaped like a building which is bended at the top and bottom. It was quite a sight. Arriving home, I played on the computer for half an hour. Then, the doorbell
Sweet+Sour Fish
Pretty and tasty rang and in came Winston and his family. At first, Winston was very shy. He was only six years old. But soon, he became very active and helped me build a small bicycle I gave him. We had lunch at a local restraint. It was very cool inside. A waitress took us to a room for 10 people even though we had only eight. There was also a couch which Winston liked to play on. For lunch we had a nice sweet and sour fish, some roast potatoes, chicken, and rice. I also had peach juice too. It was very refreshing. After lunch, I played catch with my cousin while Bobo slept. After Winston left, my aunt, uncle, and I left to go to the Beijing Urban Planning Museum. This would be my fourth time visiting it in. When we got in, I saw a giant wooden arch with water. As we neared it, a guide came out and led us to a place near the figure. On a pedestal stood a giant piece of uncut jade. He explained that inside the temporary exhibition area is an exhibition about the wonders of the British Columbia in Canada. Inside another guide
Beijing Urban Planning Museum Map
Big and very detailed. Its is the map of a whole Beijing with small models led us through the exhibit. She talked about the industry, forests, waterways, and land of the British Columbia. At the end, we saw a mural of the 2010 winter Olympics in Vancouver. On it was the three mascots. One was a bear, fox, and a little black cat. They were very cute. Once we arrived in the main museum building, we went upstairs and entered the Beijing map hall. Inside, was a huge floor covered with buildings of Beijing. I found my grandparents house and the Olympic green. Everything was so detailed. Even the small community in which my grandparents lived in had small details put into it. For example, they had two flower pots in exactly the place they are in the real world. I took a bunch of pictures. I even found the tennis courts I play at during my weekday classes. On the third floor, it had the future of Beijing. Inside, you could go into a future apartment and see what it looked like. Inside, all the walls were flowing and it looked like everything was together. The bed stuck out from the glassy wall, and a bar also came out of the wall. Everything was very contemporary. There was also a place just for the Olympics. It showed the designs of the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube. All the models looked very real and I wanted to take one home. In one room, there were a bunch of computers where you can play a game where you build your own city. It was similar to Sims City the game. At the end we watched a movie about Beijing in the past and future. It was 3-D. It showed what the opening ceremony would look like or at least what they think it will look like. After the museum, my aunt and uncle took me to a foot massage place. Inside, it was very dim and there were candles. It was a very top class spa. Everyone we met gave us a little ‘Hello’. Our guide led us into a room with three big couches and a TV. I sat in the middle. The young lady who massaged my feet was very nice. She was also very careful not to press too hard since, I might be one of the first kids to ever get a foot massage in their spa. At the end, my feet felt like they were covered in clouds; cool, refreshed, and sleepy. When we went home I had my grandmother’s pancakes and played with Bobo.
Tomorrow, I go back to tennis. There are only 13 more days until the Olympics. Yay!
