So now im in China, Ive been keeping a diary (kinda) of China so i can remember what ive done and on what day. so here we go.
The flight from Auckland to Shanghai was diverted to Japan for an hour because it was to foggy to land in Shanghai. we sat in the pane for an hour while they refueled. when we landed and the plane had stopped we all had to sit in our seats while two Japanesse ppl came on the plane with face masks on and videoed everyone on the plane. was strange but then we got on the way and landed in foggy/maybe smoggy Shanghai. i got a taxi to my hotel coz i wanted a hotel for my first night. on the drive i saw rows and rows and rows of units, 20 stories or more high, where im guessing the locals live seeing there was washing hanging out all the windows. the way they drive in Shanghai is basicly give way to what every your about to hit, merge when you want aslong as your a little in front of the car next to you. The hotel was nice i dropped my stuff off
and went for a walk, got some strange looks from the locals and got lost, found a hostel and booked it for the next few nights. the hotel was in the french concession.
so the next day i got to my hostel, was a really awesome place, had a little bar, big T.V. with dvds you can watch, a pool table free internet and wireless internet aswell. it was called the Mingtown Hikers Youth Hostel, or something like that. so i walked around and got lost again, went to the bund, which is along the river front, didn't really think much of it. Then went back to the hostel and met some ppl in the bar and had some drinks till 2am.
The next day i decided to walk to the Jade Buddah Temple, it was fucken years away, i maybe walked a third of the way but was sweating so much i found a hotel and got them to write the place out for a taxi. I got to the Temple and it was kinda full of ppl, later i found out it was a public holiday. It was such a cool place, i didn't take many pics, kinda
feel strange taking lots of photos here, dont know why. so i went up stares and had some traditional green tea, which was such a cool experiance to be relaxing and having green tea in a Buddah temple, then i walked around more and saw the jade buddah.
went back to then hostel and met some more ppl and had some drinks at the bar, we decided we would go out on the town, we went to this place where some of the guys from the hostel had gone before. when we got there there was a guy in jocks and a sleeve-lee top. for some reason we followed this guy to another place, which we didn't go in coz it looked shit, so he took us to another place, which we didn't go in, and then we followed him to another place and thought fuck it this will do, it sucked it was underground and all black with fuck all lights on. reminded me of some place that would have bondage or ppl in leather in it. so we were there for a little while, it sucked and was full mostly of guys. So half of us left and
went back to the hostel laughing at what a spazz night it had been.
The next day i did fuck all, hung around the hostel and went to get some dvds to watch on my laptop on the sleeper train. normally you walk down the road and ppl keep trying to get you to buy watches, bag, dvds, shoes, t-shirts. all fake crap. The shopping street was so busy it was scary (well not scary, but it was packed) so yeah got some dvds. took a taxi with 2 ppl from the hostel coz we were all catching trains at the same time to Beijing. so got on the train watched "jumper" on my laptop and tried to sleep, slept a little but we got here at like 6:30am, got a taxi from the train station to the hostel, its alright, not as good as the other one but still ok. its been raining all day here so just sitting in the hostel common area writing this. im staying in a 10 perons room, at the last hostel i was staying in a 4 person room, but yeah im only here for one night and then my tour starts.
