So I will do a little back tracking before I fill in the last two days. We left NY on......Im really not sure because I m not even sure what today is, what is vacation fo though lol. We left 2 hours late and made up some time in the air, but they did not hold out Beijing connection for us so the airline put us up in a hotel and we got a day there. This really worked out great because we were planning on hitting the wall on our return when we had a 6 hour layover, but a week before we left Mary was notified that we may not have enogh time. So every thing worked out good. The Great Wall was so amazing. It was an indescribable experience getting there and being there. We went to the Muteanyu (spelling?) portion of the great wall which was way out in the country, which was cool to see all of the date, apple and pear orchards as we headed through the great unknown. there were little villages and it seemed like every little village some smaller than Hartwick had a little excersize area. and it looked like there was
equipment there for adults as well as childrens playground toys. I wish I snaped a photo of that but I was too busy taking it all in. when we got to the great wall we had to pay a small amount to get into the wall and to get a lift up to the wall, other wise it probably would have take a good hour just to get up to it. Both mary and i hd our first ski lift rides, to say that Mary was a little nervous is an understatement but she just didnt lookdown for a while. we were way up there. the view is amazing as you can tell (yay i finally got some pics up). On a side note the reason I havent been able to post pics is that my memory card is too small for my dads comp and we havent remeberd to go to a kodak kiosk to put them on a disk, BUT mary's is the right size so that is exciting to finally share a little more of our trip. Let see what else should I tell you..... Oh yea, we met some really cool people who were on the
light with us from NY and were headed to Thailand and got laid over with us. We had Matt and lindsey, friends from CT, we had maggie meeting up with her boyfriend who has been teaching english over here at a Thai school, Larissa, from Jersey, living in Manhatta, who was one of the most interesting people on the trip, about 25 and half russian with dual citizenship, she was great to get to know and I m currently frawing a blank on the last girls name but as soon as we saw eachother at the ticket counter we said that we would meet up and all go to the hotel and to the manager of the airline together. then when we checked in we told them our plan to go to the great wall and there were some sceptics and we met up with a girl who had been living in china, also teaching english, but at a chinese university, and she was great becase she spoke chinese fluently. She told us how to get around and was our interpreter during checkin. All of the "gang" decided to meet in the lobby for breakfast, but I had been up
for 2 hours and called my brother and e-mailed my dad and mary's huband dave, picked up maps and tried to plan our trip. after breakfast I called a tour group whos number i got off a map and we were off. th trip there was about an hour or so but the we did make one stop, I think the tour agency has an agreement with this place and everyone has to stop there but it was cool. it was the making of cloissone vases, which was amazing!!! we were there about a half hour then we were bsck on the way to the mall. I guess the pictures pritty much tell the rest of the story so we hope you enjoy.
