Ling Tomb Entrance
This is the Ling Tomb entrance The clock in my room is set to the Korean time so i got up one hour early! I was really tired aswell! So i had breakfast at 7AM instead of 8AM! It was very nice and no Kimchi in sight!
The weather is very dull today, not the best of conditions to go to the wall but nevermind, as long as i get to see the place.
I couldn't stop laughing last night in bed, i couldn't beleive how posh this hotel is! It's the best night's sleep i've had since I've been away from home, the bed is huge. I can't touch the sides with my arms if i'm in the middle! There are four chair's at the table in my room so maybe it's for four people! This is by far the best hotel i have ever stayed at.
We left the hotel at 8:30AM, we went to the Ling Tomb's first, the scenary was very nice, loking at the roads and country side of China, it is very different to that of Korea. China looks and feel's like the real Asia, and has mountains behind one another, where as in Korea, you usually
Ling Tomb
This is just inside the Ling Tomb entrance see one layer of mountains not 4, 5 or 6 like in China. Korea is very Westerised and has an American look and feel to the place, but China is knowhere near like that, it really is pure Asia.
After the Tomb's we went to a museum/shop of Jade marble, i didn't understand a word of the Korean tour so i wondered off with an English speaking tour!! Afterward's we went for dinner, proper Chinese food, i tried and loved it all! Not very surprising really!! The table we sat at, it had a turn table in the middle and all the different Chinese meals where placed on the turn table and you just turned the table round to get what you want! It had everything you can think off! All the main Chinese dishes, sweet and sour pork, Beef in black bean sauce etc. A women from the tour who spoke English invited me to sit with her family, this was very nice of her, she was the first person to make me feel welcome and spoke to me.
We headed off to the wall at about 2:30PM, it was a brilliant sight when i saw the
Tomb Exit
Leaving the Ling Tomb wall, it was just a big long line following along the top edge of the mountains. It was really strange to see something like that! You see it all the time in photo's on the internet and other places but to actually be there was amazing, it didn't seem real.
When we got to the wall, the entrance was via the cable carts, i hate the cable carts at Alton Towers so i really hated these, the angle at times going to the wall must have been about 75 degrees! All i could see were the mountains right below me and everywhere i looked! The Great wall was to me left and i'm sat there thinking i'm so hight up and i'm in a cart that looks like it's been in service since 1842! It was so old and creaky!
I made it safely anyway! Walking out onto the wall, the view was just fantastic! All i could see were green mountains and then just the wall following the tip of the mountain top all the way along. It doesn't just go in a straight line, it litrally goes where the mountain goes, so it bends and curves
Top of Tomb
This is the view from the top of one of the buildings of the Tomb for as far as you can see.
Walking up the wall, it was a mixture of a normal path and steps, it was very steep! It was almost like climbing. I made it to the peak of the wall at its highest point, up here you could get your photo taken and get a certificate that say's you have been to the highest point of the Great Wall. We only stayed about 15 minutes! There was so much packed into the tour that we were rushed around everything.
From there we went to get a foot massage, i was dreading this because i'm very very tickleish! I had visions of the film '40 year old virgin' Where the bloke kicks the girl in her face because she tickled his feet and broke her nose! Some of it was nice but when the bottom of my foot was touched it was like torture for me! The woman was stood around waiting for a tip, i pretended to not understand and she eventually walked off! Haha She tickled me, why would i give her money?
Afterwards we had dinner, it was a mixture of Chinese and Korean cuisine, a
Cable Carts
These are the cable carts for the Great Wall very good combination! Apart from the dreaded Kimchi!
