Am still having a brilliant time at the project and am still giving the mozys the best feast they have had in years. My big toe has now swollen cause the bite is just in the wrong part! They are good at doing that!
After more traditional food (spaghetti carbonara) we went a charity quiz in the funky monkey bar. They have one every friday and the money goes towards one of the projects globalteer is involved in. They raised $103 last night so not only is it good fun but it helps the children here too. We were absolutely brilliant at coming last. Got about 4 out of 60 odd. We left before they could read out our result though. ha ha.

One of the other volunteers had her bag snatched cycling back to the guest house. She had it in the basket at the front and a motorbike came past, grabbed it and sped off. It didn't have it's lights on though so she couldn't tell the tourist police anything about him. She lost her wallet, phone and camera which had all her photos from her project on and she leaves on Saturday so can't really take many

This child lied to the teacher and had to stand like this until told he could move...was about 5 mins.
more! Now she has to go to Thailand to get replacement bank cards etc before she goes travelling. It doesn't happen often and it is only the second time it has happened to a volunteer here but it made everyone think about security cause it is so easy to relax in this place and forget about things like this!

On a more possitive note we started our "hungry caterpillar" art work and the kids love it. They all wanted to cut out millions of circles for the caterpillar and we ended up with 4 or 5 times more than we needed. Then we wanted them to paint a background of a tree and the sun but it ended up as a block of colours and patterns but it still looks cool. Hopefully we will finish it on monday though so will be lots more pictures.

When I walked in to the kindergarden class today the first thing Takear said to me was "You teach the class?" Then he handed me three books to read to the class about time, numbers and shapaes and sizes. The kids seemed to enjoy it and so did I seeing as I was thrown in at the deep end a bit.
In the intermediate class we were learning the letter I again and everytime I said "I" the kids would burst in to fits of giggles. Apparently my pronounceation sounds like oi! I have a wonderful video of their reaction to it.

Took loads of pics today but am having to use my camcorder so don't know if i can put them straight on here or not yet...we shall see.

Miss u all...

Kate.

saturday
Hi Kate Sorry to hear about the mozzies- how is the toe doing? I think on balance I would rather have those than the constant rain we have here- it is now cold and windy as well- summer time in Britain! We got back from our trip yesterday - also in the rain- we didn't have one day without it. tried to do some gardening today but it rained too much. Awful to hear that a five year old is begging at night- but that is just what I found in India- makes you think about people who moan about our welfare state doesn't it? I found it hard not to give money too- it breaks your heart.. At least you know you are doing something about it because the only way out for people in poverty is education- so whilst you are enjoying what you are doing, you know that you are also making a big difference. Continue to have a great itme- and practise those vowel sounds! love you loads. mumxx
