reply Dear K8,Have enjoyed all your letters, what a wonderful experience, and you have more to come when you visit Ghania.Looking forward to seeing you and all your Photo`s.
Love From Grandma and Grandad.
Time flies Hi Kate
Can`t believe it`s less than two weeks before you are back at Heathrow. The time has gone so quickly. Glad to see you are still having a great time and good to see also that you are looking forward to coming home, even if it is only for the cool weather. We are actually having reasonable weather at the moment. Mind you it`s been awful right through the summer.
Been back to work a couple of weeks now and the kids are still challenging as always. Wish I could transport some of them over to you to see the conditions some of yours have to put up with.
Footie season is underway again and Joe and I have seen a couple of dreadful games at Withdean already. Nothing changes. They are playing okay away from home at least. Joe saw the first game of the season up in Crewe. He went up on the supporters coach with Peter. Albion are playing Manchester City in the Carling Cup at Withdean on the night of Joes birthday. Man City have just been bought by an Arab businessman and now have more money than Man Utd and Chelsea. Great fun having them at Withdean. They will see how the other half live football wise.
Can`t remember if I told you that I helped Tom and Welshie move to their new flat in South London. Really nice place but very expensive.
Joe looking all grown up in his year eleven sweat shirt. Think he might have grown too since you left. By the time you get back he wont be bald anymore either. A silly moment with Peter and a pair of electric clippers.
Will leave Joes birthday present from you until you get back. He`s happy about that.
Make the most of the last couple of weeks Kate. Lots of love dad xx
photo hey kate! I finally found the link to your site, AND found a quiet hour to browse through your amazing blog! not sure if this is the most recent post, but i just had to say how i LOVE the photo at the top of the page - the one called 'Classy'! All the pics are amazing, and you've written such interesting stuff... it makes a great read! What an amazing experience you've been having. When you come back will you come round for a meal and give us a slide show? Can't offer you happy pizza, however!! lotsa love xx
cheek! Hey - what a cheek! As if I would ring Cambodia if you didn't make any contact for a few days! As if!
Sooooo - the organisation says not to go off the beaten track and you choose to go on a trip around the counrty side on a quad bike! Hmm- that's my Kate!
Just two weeks to go- hasn't the time gone quickly? One week of doing the letter F and then it's nearly time to come home.
I love the murals - the children will miss the fun when you leave, that's for sure. F for fun.... Friends..... I am sure you will think of something- what was the letterland F?
Hope you are not too fed up being on your own- what a shame everyone has gone- did you swap details to keep in touch?
Keep up the comments. See you soon- mumxx
The photo To be perfectly honest, she was looking down at the other kids playing and I was just doing some pure posing for the camera! he he. I'm definately going to blow that one up and frame it! I love it!
parachute Hi Kate,
I love the pics- how are you going to bear to leave? I agre with Wendy- you are bringing a breath of fresh air to the place- love the idea of a parachute- would woodcraft help to raise money for one too?
Just two weeks to go before I see you again - can't wait, though I know that you will be sad to leave- but for new adventures so not all bad.
What were yoboth looing at in that fab photo?
Love you loads.
mumxxx
bonjournio We did try and play duck duck goose but it was the day the translater wasn't there so they really didn't understand. I didnt have my camera that day either. We were also thinking about a parachute a few weeks ago but when we asked where we could get one or anything similar, we were told that its hard enough getting bed sheets here let alone a parachute so Langney getting one would be awesome!
I'm definately gonna come back here in a few years so start saving!!!!!
Miss you all too...

confession hello again k8,
i have been so busy over the hols and now back at work that i haven't had time to check what u been up to. But once i'd said hi i decided to go to the start and have a read through.Wow you are having a gr8 time. Will suggest 'Happy Pizza' for a top table treat do you think? The kids look fab in the pics and i'm sure they absolutely love you. What a breath of fresh air you are bringing into their lives. Although i'm sure you can think of more exciting games than Twister, think back to our game of the week pack and i want to see pics of a good ole fashioned 'Duck duck Goose' going on ha ha .I'm thinking a parachute would go down well, if they don't have one i think you should suggest Langney sends them one. I will be the first to donate some cash to go towards the cost, what do you think??
Quad biking, bars, drugs ( of course you didn't) beggars, people watching ( Correct: i had to lay horizontal at thought of rooftop antics) tuk tuks, temples and lots of new friends, your life is full and exciting just as it should be. Continue to have a ball and give those kids the full K8 experience. i am so jealous and wish i was with you. Do take care though ( sorry can't help myself) don't fall of any roofs or quad bikes and look after your possessions well. Will check on u again soon. bye for now . love wendy
hi K8 Hi Hon,
Just having a quick squiz at what u been up to.We all started back at Langney, first full week begins today. I'm working with D.T in the mornings and Keystage one PPA in the afternoons. Course i have no lunchtimes ..Hooray, although i do miss working with you guys, and i miss the top table and i miss going outside, miss making things in the P.A.C and playing with the kids. Twister looks like fun, can i come and play with you guys?? ha ha .
How are you enjoying the rice, Jill wants some tips on imaginative rice dishes ha ha . Spaghetti and chips? What happened to 'when in Rome...'. Take care and i'll keep checking the post for my postcard. luv wendy.
Langney Hi Kate, have been following your blog since you left, and it sounds like you are having a great time. You now have your own display board at school (the big one outside the library), and there is a space on there for the kids to ask you questions, so there may be some more messages on the way to you.
Everyone is missing you at Breakfast, Matthew keeps waiting for you to walk him round to his class! "I always go with Kate". We had 13 on first day and 12 on second so a peaceful start.
Speak to you soon. Lynda
Letter I wrote your first letter a few days ago actually...just havent got round to posting anything yet...even the postcards i wrote after a week of being here!
lovely pics Hi Kate- sorry to hear about your relationship with the loo- hope all is well now? Will you get another chance to go to the forest? That's what comes from eating curry- he he.
I love the pics- I'm not suprised they are confused by twister- just don't try cricket with them!
Glad to hear that some more volunteers are joining you- more socialising no doubt too.
I am back at work - well, Ihave been since the 11th more or less. Horrible, although the awful weather helps in a way. Hope to read more soon- no letter yet, by the way!!
love you loads. mumxx
Back Home Hi Kate. Got back from Devon last night and been getting up to date with all your news. What an amazing time you are having. Got your text about the curry. I`ll cook you loads when you return now that you are a devotee. Ho ho. Love the pictures from the temples. They are very famous and it`s great you were able to see them. They actually featured on Q I last week.
You have chosen a good summer to travel as the weather here is awful. We had one day during the 2 weeks in Devon when it didn`t rain. Ironically that was the day we got most wet. Worth it though as we were in the sea swimming with seals which was fantastic as they came right up to you. Luckily I Dont think there are any pictures of me in wet suit flippers and mask so that is a relief.
Can`t remember if you wanted me to open any of your post. Let me know.
Lots of love dad xxx
3 weeks! Hi Kate
Last week sounds amazing- what a time you are having! I am so pleased that everything is working out so well. The activities sound great- I bet the children are enjoying such creative work after all those dull hours of learning phonetic sounds! Your woirk at Langney is giving you some great ideas. I was pleased to hear that you are still using the glitter!
The rain continues here unabated- it's bank holiday so of course, the weather is now worse than ever! Yesterday, we went to Goodwood because we were given some entry badges for the 'posh' enclosure. It was great- everyone taking out tables and picnic hampers for a champagne lunch- one person was even carving a joint at the table. We had a plastic tub with ryevitas and marmite! I think we made quite an entry! Grandad William has taken pity on us and bought us a wicker hamper- so now I cant wait to pick it up and go somewhere nice for a picninc.
Martin, Jane and Joe have been in Devon this week- I think they must have caight the rain too- and so I have been feeding the cat for them. I thought that Boycee was eating like a pig until I caught a stray black cat in the conservatory-Boycee is missing the company I think- and will be pleased to see the family back today.
Joe has one week here and then he is off to Centre Parcs- then it will not be long until his birthday.
Tom is moving to Balham this week- he is joining us for a rugby match at Twickers on the 6th, so I can catch up on the gossip then.
Glad to hear that you are listening to prayers!
Take great care- I love you loads- 5 weeks to go!!!!

letter Dear Kate.Again thanks for your wonderful descriptions of your stay. Can imagine the children love you and all the fun you provide for them.We are having a lousy summer but to-day is nice and sunny,so hope to do a bit of gardening. We are picking lovely beans now.Last week I had a trip by bus with U.3.A. to Rotherfield to visit a lovely old church and afterwards,to lunch in an old pub.And next week we are going to Hasting museum, one bonus of being old,we have free busrides!Tomorrow Becca and Charlie are coming for Sunday Lunch, roast pork with all the trimmings followed by strawberries and cream. They came back from Danmark last night so looking forward to news from there. Love Grandma xxx
Letter Dear Kate,We have both enjoyed reading your reports and photographs. We are sure you are enjoying working with the children, and at the same time having time to explore the area.On the 15th of August we with Ruth and John had a really lovely meal at an Italian resturant, and then went on to the Congress theatre to see (Fiddler on the roof) it was to celebrate Grandma (and John`s) birthdays the bill being shared by Martin and John, your father however could not join us as he and Jane were on holiday down in lovely Devon.(Shame!!) All our Love G and G.
Love your blog Dear Kate....I have read your blog with great interest. You are very brave and I am sure you will remember this all your life.....what a wonderful opportunity! Make the most of every day and take good care of yourself! Love, your Mum's cousin in Canada, Jill xoxo
colds r us Oh dear, poor you. I too have had a bad cold- thanks to Joe I suspect and had to suffer it whilst I was in Scotland doing a presentation for lots of teachers.
I love the hungry caterpillar mural- very colourful. What's next i wonder?
Joe is off to Devon tomorrow with Martin, so a peaceful week all round.
Miss you lots - roll on 6 weeks (for me anyway)

good idea! Although i couldnt show them my shirt cause i couldn't find it to pack. Some of them have asked what BHAFC on my ring stands for and i simply replied with "oh it's only the best football team in the world!" As to the song, it was hard enough to try and teach them twinkle twinkle little star let alone sussex by the sea. It ended up just me and Elisa singing and with a cold i sound pretty funny when singing! I can see it now...me carefully carrying a bucket of vodka red bull through customs...ha ha. you know you're going to get some crappy trinket now...well...it depends how nice you are to me!
miss u

Pizza please....... Alright Sis,
Good to keep up to date with your going's on over there, sounds like a pretty cool trip so far!
I have a plan for your next lesson.....see if you can get the kids to support the Albion. Teach them 'Sussex by the Sea'....it could be a whole new fan base for the seagulls....
I write to request that you dont spend your money on buying me some weird and wonderful trinckets from the local market. Instead, a 'Happy Pizza' will suffice...and I dont even care if its cold! I reckon it would make my 10 hours in the office every day a little more interesting. And if you can bring back a Bucket of Vodka Red Bull that would be a bonus.....
Take care, keep having fun and keep the updates coming.....
Tom
Bonjourno... I would love a nice bit of cold rain!!!!! It has rained here but it's only ever for about 5/10 minutes and it's always about 5pm too...very strange!
I tried to put the video of their reaction to me saying I but i don't think it worked!
miss u

saturday Hi Kate
Sorry to hear about the mozzies- how is the toe doing? I think on balance I would rather have those than the constant rain we have here- it is now cold and windy as well- summer time in Britain!
We got back from our trip yesterday - also in the rain- we didn't have one day without it. tried to do some gardening today but it rained too much.
Awful to hear that a five year old is begging at night- but that is just what I found in India- makes you think about people who moan about our welfare state doesn't it? I found it hard not to give money too- it breaks your heart.. At least you know you are doing something about it because the only way out for people in poverty is education- so whilst you are enjoying what you are doing, you know that you are also making a big difference.
Continue to have a great itme- and practise those vowel sounds!
love you loads. mumxx
