Edit Blog Post

So a lot has happened since my last blog. We managed to cross the border successfully although i couldnt quite believe the amount of people that attempted to lead us off on random paths and charge us large amounts for visas (im not even sure if many of them would have been the correct visas). We found our way across after walking around and finding the correct border department. The poverty in cambodia was more obvious as soon as we crossed the bored although there were a lot of casinos, strange contrast. We made our way to Siem Reap in a taxi (works out just as cheap as a bus) with two Greeks guys. The taxi was an experience in itself as its a case of weaving in and out of oncoming traffic. Our stay in Siem Reap was moe of a 'meeting people' one. We of course did the temples (Angkor Wat) but there was a street named pub street so we met up there often with Kieran (irishman), Andy (canadian), Kirsten (canadian) and Mike (australian). There are quite a few people on long trips, many of them going to teach in China. Aftwe Siem Reap we headed to Battambang. On our first day we went around the countryside in a Tuk Tuk with a lovely guy who stopped and taught us about the plants in cambodia, how they make the rice and fish paste etc. He also informed us on the school system etc. He was a great tuk tuk driver as i feel that we found out more stuff than we would have with anyrandom tour guide. We also visited the bamboo train whcich was fun. It felt like you were zooming around on a magic carpet in the countryside of cambodia. We visited a circus which is a school for performers which ws set up by the french some years back to work with the community and provide free education. Today has been more of a relaxed one. I think we may head to the bat caves in the evening and the killing caves. Heading to Phnom Penh tomorrow as we need to be more central for the new year celebrations (Songkran) as a lot of shops etc will be closing down for the celebrations. Keep you posted x
