In the late morning of January 7, 2007, we boarded a pickup truck to go from Nyuang Shwe to Shwe Nyuang Junction, where we waited for our Yangon bus, coming from the next town called Taunggyi.
At around 12:30 pm, our bus came and we were surprised on how comfortable the bus is(relatively). We arrived in Yangon at 7 am the next morning. We had nothing to complain about this ride.
When we reached Yangon Bus station, which is 19 KM outside of Yangon, we found a city bus which took us to the center of town.
The city bus was packed. At every stop, there are 3 or 4 passengers alighting, but at least 7 or 8 getting on board. We wondered how this bus can take some many passengers.
About one hour later, we arrived in the center of Yangon. We parted ways with Sonia, and a Japanese girl which was on the 20-hour bus with us.
We found our way to our guesthouse and enjoyed a nice hot shower.
Phyllis went out to get a few short sleeve blouses for the rest of her trip.
Roswitha, the Austrian lady who travelled
with us at the beginning of the trip, flew back from Negapoli, where she spent 11 days there, joined us for dinner.
As we have extra kjats (Burmese money), we went out for a big dinner and had Hong Kong Hot Pot.
The next morning (Jan 9), we took a taxi to the airport and boarded our Air Asia plane to Bangkok, Thailand.
From the airport, we took a shuttle bus, then a city bus to Victory Monument in Bagnkok, then a long distance mini-bus to Ayutthaya.
