Day 9 -
Our flight from Sand Rivers into Dar Es Salam was great and we literally got off the plan at Dar for 5 minutes while they refueled before getting back on to go to Zanzibar. We definitely have a fondness for the little departures lounge now after being in and out of it so many times - it's so relazed with no tickets, you just tell them where you're headed and off you go!
The views from the plane over the Ocean were amazing and we arrived in Zanzibar in just 20 minutes - oh to own a private jet for all the commuting back home.
We were a bit concerned at firs that noone was at Zanaibar to meet us for our transfer but after about 10 minutes a guy came rushing over and it transpired that he'd fallen asleep in the car as our flight was an hour late - we had no idea as we'd just go on the plane we were told lol.
The roads were CRAZY in Zanzibar - goats/cows/children/chickens/bikes everywhere and there were no road signs or traffic lights etc so we just styed quiet in the back and
let the driver negotiate the chaos! The drive was good until the last 5k which was really hard going as the roads were awful and without a trusty 4x4 we felt every single bump.
We were relieved to get to Kasha in one piece and luckily it was worth the drive - we quickly decided that once we were in we weren't leaving! The hotel and suites were stunning again and each suite had it's own pool so we knew we were in for a real treat.
We spent the first afternoon relaxing on the day beds outside our room, reading and dozing off - just what we needed after the long safari drives. It was so peaceful being able to see and hear the ocean from our suite and we loved watching all the dows and little fishing boats go by. We went to the restaurant for dinner which was really nice and Anton continued with his new found love of Kili while I again began working my way through the cocktails list - my first choice was Hakuna Matata - aptly named and after 2 I really didn't have any worries!!!
Day 10 -
We slept really well but unfortunately woke to find the weather had turned and we had heavy cloud, wind and rain. We lost power for most of the day but the boutique had a generator at least so when it was raining we settled inside and watched Shrek which was quite a nice change actually after lots of sunshine for the past 10 days!
Again we went to the restaurant for dinner and I continued on my cocktail quest - no surprise there! We headed to bed early as we were tired - not sure how after such a lazy day but not complaining as it was so nice to just relax and switch off.
Day 11 -
When we woke up the sun was back - yayyyy! We had an early breakfast and then lay out in the sunshine reading by our pool for the morning. We walked down to the beach after lunch but the tide was out (must read signs in future!) so we were limited to the pier. I made Anton take part in a honeymoon photoshoot (nothing dodgy!) after discovering the self timer on the camera. He was thrilled of course but
we got some nice pics of us and the sea at last!
We sat in our pool reading for the rest of the afternoon and of course managed to squeeze a little siesta in too. We enjoyed a final night of romance with a lovely dinner and more kili's/cocktails before preparing to descend on the chaos of Stone Town for our final day and night.
Best part of Kasha Boutique? Just 100% relaxing together, being complete hermits and sitting in our little pool all day reading, chatting and the siesta-ing!
