This cheetah panted and chewed away on his freshly killed wildebeest, often stopping to watch for predators.

At night we often heard hyenas, who make several interesting noises besides the laughing sound they're known for.

The mobile camp where we stayed was due to be torn down and moved to southern Tanzania 10 days after we arrived. At night we stargazed around the campfire with camp managers. Wonderful conversations.

Our wonderful camp hosts must have worked all day to set up this surprise. Out on the Serengeti near our tent, they situated a copper tub filled with hot bathwater, robes, kerosene lanterns, a campfire and served us "bitings", drinks, and a complete dinner. We felt a bit like we were in a Hallmark movie.

This young lion watched me closely as I photographed her, sometimes so focused on me that it made me a bit uncomfortable. She has the cutest face though and was enjoying the shade with 2 of her sisters.

This is the Tanzanian country bird and its name means "hunter" in arabic. It will stomp on its prey, such as snakes, to kill it.

These girls were so tired from the hunt that they were still catching their breath before feasting

This elusive little cat is rarely observed on the Mara or the Serengeti. Our guide estimated that there were only 5 of them in the huge area where he guides and he might only see them once or twice a year.
