Hi
Another interesting week in Arusha!
Last Thursday i met my friend Mati (who runs a safari company called Amigo Safaris and her partner Fredi) for dinner We never really have time to meet and also we are all very short of money but we made an effort and met at Via Via. They had never been there in the evenings but had heard a lot about thursday nights there. Well, we met there @ 7 expecting it to be an early night.
We sat at a big table, something I never ever do..but I did!we ordered a drink and started to talk about the children, orphanage, projects etc; a while later a guy just sat on the same table quite close to us; we were speaking in Spanish and the guy turned out to be spanish too; he had just arrived from nairobi that same day; he joined us and we had a lovely conversation over dinner. His name is Alain, from the Basque country, a truly gorgeous guy, so full of life...I was very impressed and I must confess i am not usually impressed with men. After another hour or so, one of the local guys introduced us
to another Spaniard who had just arrived from Malawi, Guillem, from Barcelona! Another lovely guy! we had a great evening!!
Guillem and Alain got very interest with my work here so I took them the next day first to Engosengiu, the place where i am building the orphanage; from there to Ngulelo to Shepherd's school for the kids' test where i am taking several children from Shangarai for the new school year. After that back to Shangarai where they met Wisdom, Mama Nice, Prince and some of the children. They loved them though I had no doubts about it.
I had to take measurement of the windows @ Mama Nice's as I want to put glass on them and I also want to make some beds for the children as they have none! that is my xmas present for them! a bed and a mosquito net. Angela my flatmate is getting them 2 chickens so they can have some eggs so we also need to start building a chicken shed to keep them there! Mama Nice has some unused plot and we are training her to plant mchicha (local spinach) and other veggies; with that she'll be able to
use them to cook and also to sell the rest so she'll get some income.
On Saturday we walked to the waterfall in Mt Meru; a 7 hour walk though Maasai villages where we enjoyed the company of children and locals!
We were exhausted after that so was a very early night and also cause on Sunday we were meeting Mati and Fredi again to join one local church in Shangarai. It was a very hot and humid day!
We left Shangarai at 2pm and headed to USA River to have lunch in a local bar and from there I suggested to get a coffee in a nice lodge by the swimming pool! We had a great day!
I would like to thank the Spaniards for offering to sponsor a child even knowing it is a big financial effort for them.
Thanks to all the wonderful people I am meeting!
Less than 1 month ago I wanted to give up but i could not change my flight ticket! I was going through a rough time and I felt I could not cope any more doing this alone but then...I happened to meet all these great people and
I am so happy I have met so many amazing Spaniards lately...Sandra, Jose Luis and now Alain and Guillem! well and o only Spaniards cause I met gorgeous-amazing Karen (Canadian), Shannon (Australian), Angela (my lovely Canadian flatmate), Jason (Canadian) and Audi (Tanzanian) and with all of them i have shared my life here, my experiences and my work and I feel it makes even more sense now; I am also very grateful for their support and encouraging words..it really means a lot so that is why I am starting to believe in fate....and that I have met them all for a reason!
I have been reading The Secret again; it helps me a lot when I am feeling down or with negative thoughts! it helps me to get things into perspective and to remember about the importance of the law of attraction...POSITIVE THINKING attracts good things!!!
Less than 2 weeks to go back home for Xmas!!!!
With love
