We went different directions again! Debra, Pam, and Janet went to Marangu Mwike, on Mt. Kilimanjaro, to visit people they had baptized in '08. Rod went back to Usa River. I would liked to have gone, but we couldn't get any more translators today!
So instead, we went to some places which don't do evangelizing, but are equally important in Christian service, and which are fulfilling James 1:27: "Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to to visit the orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unspotted from the world."
In the morning, Mom, Brad, and I went to Mondule, to the Tanzania Christian Clinic. It is about 30 minutes from Kisongo. The clinic is where Danny, Cathy, and Vernetta have been working everyday.
The clinic is really, really, really nice!! Danny Smelser is the Doctor, and Stephanie Stafford works as a nurse. The clinic is much, much nicer than any public or state hospital or clinic. This was the first day that the Smelser's had been at the clinic, so it was packed full of people. We unpacked suitcases of medical supplies, and put them away and took inventory. As some of you know, I began Eyeglasses for Africa, collecting used glasses. There is no way that the majority of Tanzanians could afford a pair of glasses. I took over 250 pair to the medical clinic. For those of you who helped, thank you!! Cody also collected toothbrushes (new, of course!) and we took them to the clinic as well. I believe I would really like to work there some day! 😊
In the afternoon, we went to Cradle of Love, which is an orphanage. We got to hold and play with the babies, and it was so wonderful!
