Here are a few pictures from this week in Monduli and around Arusha...
Last week... I made my first trip to Monduli, to go along with Shasta on a few studies there. We went and visited an older "Mzee" Man who has been baptized recently to see how he and his family were doing... Then met up with Innocent, the preacher in Monduli who went along with us through the day. The older man and his grandson, Paul decided to go on the studies with us... and we think that Paul may be very close to following in the example set by his grandfather. He was asking lots of good questions and listening with his whole heart...
There were 9 people at the first home we studied with... and 19 at the 2nd home... It was a great day! On the ride home, we had a little down pour and as it began to clear up, the rainbow shined through... A Promise...which brings forth a smile..... and thinking that tomorrow will be another day to go out and share the Gospel.
Sunday morning we worshiped at Arusha and we had a large crowd there, with all the students
returning back from their Holiday break... We took a group picture to begin the New year with.
We seem to be back into full swing around here, now that the New Year has begun, and we are finishing up our 4th month here in Tanzania and beginning our 5th.... Hardly seems possible, Time is going by so quickly! Brent started Swahili school today out at Usa River, and we had our weekly Group Bible study over at the Gee's house tonight.
One of my favorite things about the Tanzanian people, is their smiles... Their genuine love for others and a sincere happiness that just radiates and shines across their faces... There is a little girl named "Juli" at Arusha, she was born while we were here in 2002 and her mother named her after me... (which seems to happen alot here) We have a Little Stephanie, Brent, Cy, Anthony, Juli, and many others around named after people who have come over from the states during the summer campaigns.... But back to Juli, this little smiling boy in the picture with me, is her little brother, they said that they wanted me to go home with them to play....
Nothing makes your day better than the smile and hug of a child.... We are begining to feel "at home" once again in Tanzania.... Old friends and faces, to remind us of where we were, and new friends and faces reminding us, of where we are going... The church is growing steadily...
We're hearing such good reports of all the work being done in Moshi and how excited they are to be getting some new reinforcments, to come work with the church there. Christopher told me the other day that we needed to take the first house we could find, and just get there.... Unfortunatly, its a slow process to find any houses at all here... then to find the owner is a few more days after you've found the house... but, we do have one in mind right now, but we also have the rest of the month to keep looking around to be sure.
Well we love you and miss you all
We're just about to start getting visitors again...
Cy & Stephanie will be returning to us soon, and the Baker family will arrive just 2 days after them. Charles flys in this week, and
Chickens running through
Who could have a Bible study without a chicken running through the center... the wheels begin to spin.... working towards the summer campaigns in both cites..
Hope you are considering joining us....
In His Service,
Love Julie
