Dear Bloggers, We hope you are enjoying almost autumn. Last year at this time we were happily winding our way across the USA in our motorhome and seeing some of you which was great fun. No football, homecoming, or Halloween decor is present here as it is springtime in the southern hemisphere and we see blossoms on trees with the red potato harvest in full swing. Down in our valley green and flowering potato plants are disappearing plot by plot by a small group of kanga clad women working each field and digging up the red gems. They are bagged and sewn up right in the field ;and carried by head to the road where they await a lorry to carry them off to market.
We have been out and about attending meetings, visiting schools, making ourselves available ;and visable (which isnt too hard to do) in our village. Yesterday we planned a health unit with the head teacher at the primary school where wed go and teach health educ for a month...nutrition, disease prevention, HIVAIDS. The classroom teacher will have to translate as our Kiswahili isnt that good yet and we do want the kids to understand the message. Thats all for now. love, Dave and Wendy
