Ask anyone that lives or has ever visited Cape Town what the most popular street in all of Cape Town is, and they will say: "Long Street of cause".The street as everything from stalls to banks, to cafes to old, but like really old english pubs, clothing stores to bars with crazy shooter's specials, and lets not forget the night clubs. The annual Carnival and New Years Eve bash also gets hosted in this street.

Many people say Long Street comes alive at night, but from my own personal experience, and by personal experience I mean drinking Chilli Tequilas at Bob's Bar at 11am, resulting in a friend going into the men's toilet instead of ladies, another friend spilling endless amounts of shooters (that we didn't pay for, free drinks, extra friendly people helllooooo), basically crawling to Long Street Cafe, being chased out for "disturbing the peace" (its a bar atmosphere how much peace can there be?), crawling further down to Purple Turtle just to use their loo, then breaking a display doll in a shop who's name I don't even remember, then going into Backpackers bar, completely confusing the barman, resulting in getting much more shooters then we bargained for. I'd say Long Street pretty much comes alive at night, but stays alive during the day. Its the street that never sleeps, and I recommend anyone who's never been to go and visit Long Street NOW!!! Cmon, live dangerously!
