Hi Everybody!
Here are some pics from Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens here in Cape Town. It didn't rain yesterday so we hopped on a bus and went to the Gardens. They are rated one of the top 7 botanical gardens in the world. It was so beautiful. Aaron was always telling me about a flower here called the Protea, now I know why. All sizes, colors, diffent types, they're amazing. Needless to say the birdlife there was cool, too. I can't imagine what it would look like in the summer, because it's winter here and everything is green and there are flowers blooming. Then we hopped back on the bus and rode it out to Hout Bay and had lunch at a great seafood place, of course the fish was caught that morning. It is so beautiful in that little bay community. Then we went out and watched the seals playing for awhile and hopped the bus back into Cape Town. We got off the bus in the next community over, about a mile from where we're staying and walked back. They have an ocean front walk lined with a giant park that runs for about two miles. Lots of people were

out playing in the park, lots of dogs being walked, joggers, yoga on the grass, it's a really cool place to spend an afternoon. Our walk back takes us by the new stadium they're building here for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Cape Town will be hosting the opening ceremonies. I don't know how many people this will hold, it's gigantic, at least 150 to 200 thousand people.
Cape Town has a population of 5 million, but so far I haven't felt overwhelmed. It's a very clean city with lots of great things to see. The first 2 human open-heart transplants were done here in 1967.
We weren't able to get up on Table Mountain in our 12 days here because of the weather and we're setting off tomorrow. I don't know when our next diary entry will be because we won't have access to internet daily anymore. Til then, take care and let us hear from you!
