This week we moved into our own place for 6 nights and we stayed in the lovely guest house I stayed in last year - Little Orchard. It is in a very "posh" suburb of Cape Town called Constantia. Little Orchard is run by Graeme, an old gentleman who will help you as much as he possibly can. He even gave us a few free lifts. Unlimited breakfast every morning and 2 streets away from a small shopping centre with a good selection of restaurants. If you want to book you need to do so directly through him. We used Uber to navigate our way around but if you were staying here and wanted to travel distance then I recommend hiring a car. We were fortunate enough that we had friends who would take us to visit places further a field and we used Uber for the shorter journeys.
Weds 28th Sept - We visited the Blue Route Mall cinema, as it costs so much back home we decided to treat ourselves here. It cost us 135R (3.50 each)! We watched Bridget Jones Diary, I say we, Alex slept through most of it but it was nice to
relax.
Thursday 29th Sept - Early finish from school and Megan had parents evening so Alex and I needed to amuse ourselves. It meant it was time for wine! We visited Groot Constantia for wine tasting. The wine tasting cost 45R (2.50) and Alex was in his element. I'm not a massive wine drinker but for the price I would sample some and Alex would happily have the wine I didn't like. You get a list of about 10 wines white and red with a brief description of the wine and how much it retails at. You can choose 5 generous samples each. We couldn't make our mind up on a certain wine so the lady gave us an extra sample to try. As expected, I didn't like any of the wines and Alex loved them so he got drunk for under 90R!
Friday 30th Sept - Our last day in school. We all know how end of terms can be, you always have those that do not attend the last day of school. We walked into Megan's classroom and asked where her class was as there was only four children there. She laughed and said this is
my class. Their last day of schools hardly anyone turns in, I don't think there were more than 10 in any class that morning. School started as usual at 8:00am but they were allowed to finish at 10:30. We headed to Original T Bag designs afterwards (see other blog coming soon) with two pupils. Once we had finished there, it was time to head to the beach! We visited the stunning Camps Bay for pizza and a swim! The sand is pure white and possibly one of the nicest beaches we have ever been on.
We tried to swim, well we had a very short swim as the water was freezing. We soaked up the sun and admired the views. Absolute bliss!
