After packing our bags again to move onto our next location, a process which we are shortening each time, we wander down for breakfast at 8.15. Not sure why but at Mooriplass breakfast is only served between 8.00am and 9.00am which doesn’t allow you time to sleep in! Breakfast this morning is something called a “Bobotie” which is a Malay influenced spiced Ostrich mince with sultanas topped with Dutch milk and egg and grilled. It was served with baked banana and was surprisingly pretty good. Today we have an appointment to keep with “Fanie” from the Ostrich skin place, so after packing the car and filling up with fuel for our long drive ahead, we set off. Waehrend wir auf das Geld aus Deutschland fuer unser Auto warteten, nutzten wir die Zeit sinnvoll und erkundeten mal ein bisschen mehr als Cape Town. Am Montag ging es Richtung Cape L'Agulhas. Oli, Felix's Bruder, und 3 Freunde (u.a. auch Gavin, unser lieber guide von der Tafelberg-Tour) haben dort ganz in der Naehe ein kleines Haeuschen. Gavin und seine Frau Chrissie waren so lieb uns den Schluessel zu ueberlassen und so konnten wir 2 wunderschoene Tage in dieser Idylle verbringen. Das Haus steht auf einem kleinen Huegel, direkt in einem Naturschutzreservat. Das Meer ist gleich neben an. Und der naechste Ort, Struisbaai, ist 3km entfernt. Also wirklich ruhig und abgelegen, genau das was man nach 2 Wochen Grossstadt gebrauchen kann. We decided to try and hitch from Hermanus to Stormsriver - the next stop up the East coast of South Africa. We didn't have much success as we just got one ride in 2 hours and that was only for 15 minutes to Caledon. When we got to Caledon we ate some Fish and Chips - unfortunately the White South African's diet seems to consist of Meat Pies and Fish and Chips - I wonder where they got that from... and then booked the next bus to Stormsriver - which was the next morning. There wasn't much in the way of places to stay in Caledon so the guy at Tourist info set us up at a hotel with a Greek Island Theme... where I got to watch ManU draw with Arsenal on Satellite TV.
