The ship docked at Richard's Bay and from the balcony we could see a pretty marina. We boarded the shuttle bus expecting to be taken to such a place, but no, we ended up at yet another faceless modern shopping mall. We couldn't believe this so we asked the lady organising the bus how we could get to the waterfront. She took us to the taxi place from where the taxi took us back the same way the shuttle bus had come and dropped us off at the waterfront we could see from the ship and indeed could have just walked across to! A waste of 200 rand but served us right for not getting our bearings and checking exactly where the shuttle bus was going.

The only reason for calling at this port was to go on a game drive, and as we had done this previously from excellent places in Kenya we had not opted to do so on this occasion.

We had to laugh off our mistake and repair to the bar and the pool deck and have a leisurely lunch before the Trivia quiz.

Amazing how the day goes so quickly!
