Our Beautiful Country
We went up to Ballito for a weekend with the fam. Hey My beloved family!
Man oh man how the last three months have just whizzed past! I am fully aware that they took just as much time as any three months would usually take, but it certainly did not seem that way to me! I know it has been a long time since I last dropped you an update, and I know I am not in some far off strange destination, where people drive on the wrong side of the road, cows walk in the streets, and people speak strange languages...hold the phone ...! That does sound awefully familiar. We do live in such a vibrant crazy place, boy oh boy it is fun... and challenging at times but that keeps us creative. Anyway back to the straight and narrow, so yes its been a while and yes i am in my home with you, but i have been on outreach to you guys, that's Westville Presby, so wanted to drop you a line and let you know what has been up.
As you may or may not know the beautiful Natalia and I [I include myself in the adjective
description here😊], have been doing some ministry to the church. God laid it pretty heavy on our hearts to be there for the youth and the young adults, and to help some of the leaders of those generations with some time off by taking on some teaching roles where we were needed. Man i cannot explain how God made connections, it has been amazing. We would email people and tell them what we were thinking and they would say, "Man perfect timing, that's just what we need." So it has been awesome to see how God has timed things.
We spent Monday nights with the Grade 11 and 12 cell group. They are a really awesome bunch of guys, great personalities and at the brink of genius intelligence. We spent three weeks talking about the Nature of Truth, and then discussed Evolution, looking at it apologetically, which was really interesting to them as that is what they are currnetly doing at school. We spent four weeks doing that and will continue the next two weeks or so on the same topic. On Wednesday nights we were fortunate enough to do a teaching on Ephesians, one month at the Bartholomew
Boys High Rugby
Hanging with sister and friends! cell group and one month at the Tooley cell group. It was an awesome time, and so interesting to see what different questions and discussions that came up at the different groups at different stages at their lives. Friday nights Nat and I were at Crossfire helping out Kim, Geoff, Carrick and Candi. That was a serious blast and it was awesome to be back with the youth again, i felt youthfulness run through my veins! So when we weren't teaching on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights, and weren't preparing for the teachings, we were spending the rest of our time hanging with the youth and young adults, taking them out for one-on-ones/two-on-ones/two-on-twos, and chatting to them, and coming along side them in any way that we can.
It was a seriously cool time. One of the things i realised is that we have an awesome bunch of young people that are earnestly seeking God and who have some seriously good questions about life, God and our faith. We have a responsibility to come around these young leaders and provide them with the guidance, love and truth they need to become world changers in the future. Honestly some of
these guys and girls are incredible young men and woman with a passion to make a difference, let us help them make a difference for God!
As you may or may not know, I asked Natalia to marry me, and she very kindly agreed. I was most grateful, i had a sort of extatic feeling inside that made me jump and feel like a school kid again. She has very sadly returned to "the land of the free and the home of the brave", or "the home of the free and the land of the brave" or "the free of the brave and the land of the home" . Anyway she is safely home and is missing me dearly😊 As am I her, actually very dearly. Life is far less exciting without her around , she is too much fun and always funny! Anyway she has returned home for 6 months to work and save for the wedding which will be July 11th next year. I will remain here and work also, saving for the wedding
She said YES!!!
Check that ring...and my arm hair! and life . After the wedding we are sort of unsure of our plans. We had planned to go straight into university , but, through councel, guidance and prayer, have decided to push those plans back for 6 months to a year/until God tells us when, and concentrate on our pending marriage. I am praying for the opportunity to visit my beautiful fiance somewhere in the next 6 months to halve the time a part, so feel free to pray for miracles with me.
That's about all. I will be around, please feel free to talk to me, i think i'm a pretty nice guy. Although this 6 months may be hard, I am looking forward to seeing what God has in store for Natalia and I, and what He is going to teach us over the months apart. We are certainly having to learn to trust Him. Well i'm going to love you and leave you, but before I do, I just want to thank you all SO MUCH for all your support over the last 6 months, and for making Natalia feel so welcome. She has grown to love you all very dearly and sees Westville Presby as her home. So thank you very very much, I love you all, and am looking forward to being among you over the months to come. Much love and God bless you all.
