Having spent the previous night at a B&B in East London - because we couldn't find the campsite - we left early morning to make the trek through the Transkei and up the Kwa-Zulu south coast to Durban. The Transkei looked the same as 20 years ago, potholed roads, lots of goats and cattle on the side of the road, and rather seedy looking towns. Unfortunately our schedule did not allow us time to stay at any of the beautiful beaches so we only saw the worst.
