Back in Port St John's
This is Christina's place -
On the other side of the muddy river
With no toys
We met a lot of happy and friendly people here
Happy playing
But the kids don't seem to care, they are having fun
The shops for new gear are a bit too far away (2 days walk)
"Village-every-day-life"
And Mum's carrying their baby's on their back
...playing and working...
...we met heaps of youngsters...
On the way to Mpande...
Rondavel - the Xhosa build round houses
On the far side of the river is the town that we stayed at - Mpande
This one is a little worn out
A glimbse of the interior along the coast is not too disappointing
After the crossing it looked like it would have been a muddy affair to swim across
The ferry-man didn't turn up for like half an hour and I was almost ready to swim when we finally saw the little row boat approach
After a long walk along the beach we got to a wide river
looks pretty deserted but there actually were some people
and we get closer...
...and closer
Soon we reached the first mile-long beach
Up on the first saddle of the day
So here we are on our hike's first day
No rush!
...and relaxed in this town
Pace is veeery slow
...and that really seems to perform miracles: I don't think that I ever heard a black baby cry.

...even though it was just a small town
A busy hustle and bustle...
A taste of the "city" itself..
Including a wild drive up
...from this lovely hill
And of course after that: Sundowners
so went for a walk, amongst other things had a look at the local township
It turned out to be a beautiful day
....and went to see the spectacle
...just before sunrise, so I grabbed the two dogs....
First morning I fell out of bed...
