A warthog
This was the one and only warthog we saw in the whole of Namibia! We have spent the last 3 days exploring Etosha National Park and it was awesome, one of the best places that I have been! We saw loads of animals and I took loads of photos. Some would say too many!
One of the great things about is Etosha is that it is all self drive so you just get to the gate, pay your fees and then you are free to drive off in search of wildlife. It was so cool. No soon as we were through the door we saw a heard of springbok and then some zebras. Loads of photos got taken then, as we did not realise that we would get a lot closer to them later on. Both Springboks and zebras seem to be everywhere and are quite happy to stand right in the road and tend to look a bit put out when they have to move!!
We spent the first day driving to our restcamp which was in the park. On the way there we also saw some black faced impalas, kudus, 2 ostriches and very excitingly an elephant! We had been tracking its dung for a while and then we saw it
through the trees. Not very close up (which was probably a good thing!) but we still got a good look.
The second day we headed to our second rest camp which is at the western edge of the park. As well as loads more zebras and springboks plus some gemsboks (another antelope type thing) we saw a lion lazing under a tree. This was very exciting and I think we were pretty lucky to see it (loads more pictures taken here!) Just before we got to the camp we saw 5 giraffe! There were a lot less of them about than I was expecting so I was really pleased to see them.
This camp has a flood lit water hole so we had a chance to sit out and watch all the wildlife come to us. It was good because we did not have to be in our car which we seem to have spent a lot of time in. When we got there in the afternoon it was pretty quiet then 2 elephants showed up. I was very excited. We came back in the evening and saw 6 rhinos!! All in all a great day of wildlife
spotting.
The next day (our last full day in Etosha) we headed to a waterhole north of the camp as several people and seen lions there. They were right and when we got there we saw 10 lions! They were mainly lazing and lying in the grass but they got up for a walk about every now and again.
We spent the afternoon at the waterhole again and this time we were lucky enough to see a herd of 35 elephants including lots of babies. I was so excited. They were all so cute. It was like being in a wildlife documentary!
As you can no doubt tell we loved Etosha and recommend you all come and visit!

Etosha
I loved reading your blog. We are going to Namibia in Sept and plan to do a 3 day Etosha trip - we can't wait. Great blog by the way.
