This morning we left Cairo in a minibus heading for the Sinai region. Am glad to leave this stinky, dirty city. We have a security guard travelling with us as there are no convoys to the Sinai. Which makes me feel quite safe- especially as he was asleep during most of the trip!!! Just passed a burnt out bus on the side of the road, otherwise lots of sand and power lines. Stopped for lunch- the group before us left most of their food- which said to us, don't order much. I had fries which should be safe as they are cooked in hot oil and were served on a tissue on a plate. Passed through a few Bedouin villages. Arrived at St Catherines monastery in time for dinner and off to bed early.
