little ahmad
This little guy and his brotehr made my taxi ride :o) here i am in egypt now.. no plane crash, no kidnapping so far hahaha jk
To put it in brief words: Egpt is the most lovely country ive ever visited! (Im not saying this out of holiday-beginning-enthusiasm, within a few hour ive experienced things i never seen before) People are soo sooo loveable and hospitable! Right now Im in the net cafe in dahab (sinai peninsula) right at the ocean. Theres a wind blowing in here but its so pleasant. The temperature at the arrival was 39 in the sahde but honestly it doesnt feel like almost 40 as the heat is very dry and easy to bear so far.
The plane landed at 12:15 at noon and I was still a bit tired after getting up so early this morning. After getting the visa, getting through the the passport control etc I picked up my backpack and heavily loaded i went to try my luck haggling over a suitable taxi price to east delta bus station in sharm el sheikh from where i was gonna get onto a bus to dahab. But taxi drivers were very bold and wated to have 40 euros for a 10 minute taxi ride... I

they were so much fun insisted on a price but no one accepted it. So i left a few times, was called back a few times, this happened about 7 or 8 times. Finally i felt like getting a sunburn alreay and went into the shade to put some sunscreen onto my skin when a taxi driver suddenly made me a fantastic offer so I finally got a taxi trip to dahab from the airport for 15 euros (1 hour trip!!)
The taxi driver was a nice man who had 2 of his little sons, ibrahim and ahmad, along in his taxi. I had the most fun with those 2 cute little fellas. they jumped around in the car, performed acrobatic acts and finally we had lots of fun with my digital camera. The driver, mohammad, asked me whether id like to try some original bedouin tea, and i agreed. so he left the main road and stopped in the middle of nowhere. There were a few huts, goats and camels and when u had a closer look you could see all those kids plaing and laughing. He said that a part of his family lives there, so we got off the car and he

playing acrobat in the car makes tired :o) put a blanket in the sand in a small tent and asked me to sit down. then he left. suddenly i was surrounded by around 12 or 13 kids between 3 and 7 they all were joking around and one of the girls (her name was saya or something like that) brought me a small glass of sugarsweet tea. The kids kept on playing around and after a while one of the men asked me with gestures to come and sit with the family. There were 5 women, some half covered, some even hiding their faces only showing their eyes. We exchanged looks and I applied my minimal arabic knowledge, so the ice kind of broke. Besides them there were 4 men and my taxi driver. They were all so friendly and the atmosphere was really welcoming and relaxed. After about 1 hour we took off and left for dahab where i am now. Little ahmad sat on my lap during the drive and fell aslep in my arms until we arrived.
Now im staying at a lovely place, its not a hotel, its not anhostel. Its a big garden with little rooms. In the middle of the garden you
find many palm trees, and in between cussions where everybody can sit. The staff is really cool and so uncomplicated, I was welcomed with a "welcome at home" once i arrived. The owner asked me to sit down with him on the cussions asked me to share his meal with him that came in many cups which were spread all over the floor. We had a chat, exchanged some language knowledge, had a water fight in the end before we did the formalities.
Leute es ist das paradies hier!!!! I love it so much here, I imagined it to be lovely but it is more than that. I feel like staying here forever!! Tomorrow night at 11 a group and me are going to drive to gebel moussa (mount sinai) where we will arrive at 1 (at night!) and climb the mountain to watch the sunset in the morning. its going to be an exciting night! Im still so enthusiastic about everything here. IT IS PARADISE IN DAHAB!!! People who react weird about you going to egypt have no reason to be like that and should definetly come here and form themselves an own opinion! ITS LOOOVELY LOOOVELY LOOOOOVELY HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!
bedouin family
i first felt shy to take a picture but they wanted one and now im glad i took it so long.... :o)
p.s. next to me here in the cafe theres an arabic guy with dark skin and BRIGHT BLUE eyes!! Here are quite a few fair and even blonde arabs
Friday, next day.
The connection of the internet café broke down and didn’t work for the rest of the day. So Im resuming the text in another internet café today.
Last night I went to swim in "the blue lagoon" while watching a stunning sunset over the Sinai mountains. Today I will spend a couple of hours at the beach in the afternoon do some swimming, getting a bit tanned so I don’t burn when going snorkeling in 2 days. Right now its very windy, but it’s a hot wind so it doesn’t really make a difference. But I love it!!
Anyway I will write more soon
Luv Nicola
