I met a traveller from a antique land who said : two vast and trunkless legs of stone stand in the dessert ...near them on the sand half sunk, a shattered visage lies whose frown and wrinkled lip sneer of cold command quote from Ozymandias- Shelly

Welcome to Egypt!

Sounds of this greeting reaches us not only from the expected places like hotels and taxis but from strangers in the street, schoolkids on line in front of us and fellow patrons at resturants

Introduction to Cairo City Traffic

We were introduced to Cairo city traffic by our airport transfer and later by our friend Nini accompanied by her cousin & her sister who are Cairo residents. We visited the Virgin Mary Church in Zeitoun where the famous apparition of the Virgin Mary appeared for 2 years in 1968. After we visited another Coptic Church where another miracle happened , an open Bible was found floating in the Nile opened to the scripture that read Bless the people of Egypt. ( paraphrase)

The next day we explored Islamic Cairo, we visited the Citadel a fort complex with a palace and a mosque. It is where we got our 1st view of the pyramids across the city skyline. Later we were escorted by a local named Peter through the local market where we peeked at Egyptian life. His girlfriend met us for a few minutes and flirted with Peter by buying him a choclate bar and slipping it quietly into his hand. He promptly insisted we share it with him. Here we bought Egyptian spices .
