Giza Pyramid, Cairo, Egypt Met the other group members Jan and Doug at breakfast this morning. Afterwards, our local guide Ola took us on the Cairo underground train to visit the Giza pyramids and Sphinx. We spent a few amazing hours learning about these awesome structures and being harrassed by all the souvenier scalpers. One young guy even offered dad a dowry of five thousand camels to marry me. He was obviously joking, but it gave us a good belly laugh.
We wandered around the Egyptian museum, of which the highlight was definately Tutenkhamun's treasures. Once Olas tour ceased we had free time to check out the museums collection of animal mummies, before regrouping at the hotel and taking a taxi to the train station. We arrived early but soon enough our overnight, Aswan bound carriage pulled in and we embarked, excited about an overland train journey.
