I'm making a list of places I'd like to see before I my time is up. Could have as much as 2 years left to do it in, all being well.

Hi,

This is a fantastic idea, enjoy your trip when it arrives - I´m sure you will.

We´ve been to some incredible places, some more touristy than others but all with their own merits! Here are just a few of our highlights...

Seeing the orangutans in Borneo

Walking the Great Wall in China

Visiting Machu Pichu in Peru

Learning to scuba dive and diving off Sipidan island in Borneo

Skydiving in Australia (although skydiving anywhere would be just as amazing!)

A helicopter ride over Iguazu falls in Brazil/Argentina

Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia

A night in Raffles hotel, Singapore

The Sambadrome parade in Rio at carnaval time...the list goes on!

Blossom season in Japan

Some things I would absolutely love to do...
A cruise to Antarctica, safari in Africa, relaxing/snorkelling in the Maldives, seeing the bears in Canada/Alaska, staying in the ice hotel in Norway, seeing the Northern lights, visitng the Galapagos Islands, going to Easter Island, taking the Trans-siberian all the way to Mongolia...(this list also goes on and on!!!)

Good luck with your planning, I look forward to following your journey,

Take Care, Chrissie Reply to this

Have not been to Petra, but it is definitely in my list. From there you might as well go for Israel and Egypt (and try your camel ride) - places I enjoyed. Back when I did my treatments, my surgeon said "there's a lot you can do in 5 years or so". He was right. And I've been at it , traveling on and off, and in better health, for more than 7 years now! Just go, girl..........go where your heart leads you. Reply to this

Of the roughly 50 countries I've been to I have to say Vanuatu is my favourite. In some international survey the people there were found to be the happiest in the world and you really see it everywhere you go - beaming smiles, raucous laughter, random acts of kindness and hospitality, they all become pretty much ever-present, especially once you leave the capital and travel to some of the smaller islands. On top of that many of the islands have easily accessible tribes who have preserved more of their culture and traditions than any tribes I've visited anywhere (and I've visited a fair few). Traditional dancing, songs, ceremonies, clothing (or lack of it!) and houses all remain very much a part of people's lives. As well as all this Vanuatu has a few of the best beaches anywhere in the Pacific (for example Champagne Beach on Espiritu Santo island) but here you are more than likely to have the beach all to yourself. If you like mountain scenery and trekking, Vanuatu has it in abundance. If you like adventure sports, it has a hell of a lot of that too in the capital. It also has two easily accessible volcanoes, one of which is the most easily accessible in the world. Good diving too in some parts, such as the USS Coolidge wreck. Reply to this

I forgot to mention that Vanuatu also has one of the most spectacular ceremonies anywhere in the Pacific, if not the world. In April on Pentecost Island local tribes build huge wooden towers up to thirty five meters high and, clad only in their traditional dress (leaves wrapped around the genitals!) the men throw themselves off with only a jungle vine tied around their ankle. The length of the vine is measured exactly so that their hair brushes the ground at the end of the fall! This was apparently the origin of modern bungee jumping. Reply to this

There are many beautiful places, like the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, and Yellowstone. But the places that have meant the most are: Amazonia, Angkor Wat complex in Cambodia, Machu Picchu in Peru, Hanoi, Vietnam, hill tribes of Laos, Queenstown, NZ, and Penang, Malaysia. Let me know if you need more information. Reply to this

My favorite place in the world to go (or that I have been too ) is San Francisco, California. The weather is great. (unbeatable) The people are great. Scenery is OUTSTANDING! And if you go you have to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. It is the most amazing feeling EVER. Nevermind, the steap streets will give you all the excersise you will ever need. SAN FRANCISCO should definitly be on everyones to do list. Reply to this
