George,

How was Morocco. In all honesty, you are the envy of my heart. I wish to go to Morocco and spend some time there doing research. What was your favorite city or province?

Take care.

Hi all 😊 This is my first visit to the site and hoping that it will be the answer to all my questions! Sadly I am not about to travel the world for a year but would like to do a couple of weeks in Thailand with a difference. No package tour for me this year ................. I am planning on getting flights out to Bangkok in November, staying there for a few days and then perhaps heading down to Krabi. This is the first time that I will not be relying on the usual package holiday comforts .................. still wanting a little luxury but 5 star hotel not essential. Quite fancy a nice little beach hut really 😊

any suggestions would be appreciated in terms of where to go, places to stay etc.

thanks

Welcome to TravelBlog Juliet and also welcome to independent travel. 😊 I think you will find luxury in Thailand at a much lower price than here in Europe(if that is where you live?)

I havent been to Krabi so cant comment on accomodation there. Also I am more of a budget traveller than a luxury traveller. You could put a post in the Asia forum and somebody there might have recommendations.

Also, the Lonely Planet guide to Thailand might be a worthwhile purchase for you. It is invaluable for the information it gives for independent travellers about accomodation(it lists accomodation from budget right up to luxury), transport, sights, safety, money........ It costs around 30 Euros and is available in most bookshops around the world and you can also buy it on the internet. Reply to this

Hi! Just stopping in to say hello. I'm 20, from NJ but working for the summer for a company that represents . I drove from NJ to LA for this job, it was my second cross country road trip. I'd say that's definitely my favorite method of transportation, too bad gas is causing me to go bankrupt. Anyway, I'm gearing up for my drive back in a couple of weeks. Not much more to me than that!

Hello Mell & fellow travelers 😊
My name is Affinity, & I've been traveling since High School. I grew up on Cape Cod, USA. One morning, after graduation, I awoke with a revelation. I hauled out a map of the United States-closed my eyes & twirled the map... slammed my pen down on Orlando Florida. Knew no one, had no job prospect there, but packed my bags, loaded the car, put the rest in storage & drove. I had enough cash to last me 2 months in a decent hotel.
It took about 2 wks before the "beach" became a bit of a yawner, change of course. Rented a room from a couple who had an enormous house. I did this to get to "know" people. Their friends became mine, evenings around the dinner table sharing experiences (they were considerably older than myself) & 'living' not 'visiting'. I sought out a job, got it & made more friends, life began in a new place.
I've always had pen pals, from letters found in a bottle, from school or via friends. One day, after 7 yrs of writing, a pen pal from Europe showed up @ my doorstep ! S U R P R I S E ! LoL Well, this is a long story I will spare you from, this time 😉. In the end, he invited me to Europe, he moved in with his girlfriend & gave me his apt for 3 weeks. The pen pal, his girlfriend, myself with 8 of their friends, traveled the continent :D 16 hours of sleep the first week.... I can sleep when I'm 6feet under. I HAVE to see it all.
I live in Europe now. I continue to travel with my family.
My hopes & dreams? My children grow up wise, open minded & well traveled. Experience all the cultures the world has to offer, every color, every culinary adventure & every joy.
Thank you for such a welcoming-fast loading-interesting site! Reply to this
