Why is it that certain (very important) world events are over-shadowed by news of popular celebrities? Just the other day, I was in the car listening to a speech given by Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, and my roommate and I rushed into our house to watch his speech on CNN... unfortunately other breaking news was on. That news was about actor Matthew McConahey(?) getting in a fight with paparazzi at the beach with surf buddies. WTF??? The complete opposite of the above explained happens in Europe. When there is breaking world news, I can at least find one television at a pub turned on and tuned in. It's how the world should be. Is this a problem that is only found in America? Any other countries value pop celebrity banter over world news? Thanks and sorry ... read more
