It has been a while since the last blog but time flies by so fast when travelling! Finally it was time to move around in Southamerica and discover this beautiful place! I started off with a flight from Rio to Caracas. It was such an amazing flight, as I saw Rio from above by night, which was very impressive. After a stop over in Sao Paulo I landed in time in Caracas at 4.30 am in the morning. I have booked a trip to Los Roques and it was now the advanture to find the domestic airport to catch my flight at 6.30 am. This was definitely an advanture as it turns out that the airport is 1 km away from where I landed and there was no bus or anything going there, and walking in ... read more

( En francais en bas de page) This is it. The 3 months adventure around South America has just started for me. After a pretty uneventful journey (although I still wonder how Nick and I , made in on time to Heathrow airport despite the police stopping us) I made it to Caracas safely. First impression it´s hot, really humide! I spent my 1st night here yesterday and am now waiting for my bus to Colombia. I spent most of the day walking around Caracas, trying not to look like a tourist (many people are black or mixed race here so it´s pretty handy for me) and I think I´ve done alright so far. Caracas didn´t impress me much though, expensive, not much too see or do, but let´s not judge a city in 24 hours, ... read more

Hello! I did just finish with my luggage :) and with this a pretty long day (but a successful one). The excitement did not let me sleep much (only about 3 hours)... Today i had the opportunity to have lunch with a good friend that is living in Norway, then I visit a house with 2 nuns and 17 kids with the amazing Corina (she made almost all the design of the project) and to repair a bicycle for one the kids (that remind me how easy is to touch and improve a life) Now i am going to bed, my guess is that the next entry will be written in Kenya ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Buenas noches, Acabo de terminar la maleta (gracias a mi hermana claudia) y con esto un dia bastante largo, la emocion no me ... read more

Do you believe in magic? Being a scientist, and formerly, an uptight realist, I can say I never did. Maybe when I was a little princess with her head in the clouds I did, way, way, back, but the storms of life quickly dispelled all the myths of miracles... But could there be some magic in the world after all? And what kind? The kind that makes people fly and dragons breath fire? No, not likely. But maybe the kind that some would call faith, or karma, good will, or spirituality. No, I am not a hippy, nor am I about to burst out into singing Christmas carols (or maybe I am- whatever, not the point). The point is this. What if you went somewhere and turned life itself upside down, like one of those glass ... read more

I'M NOT SURE IF THIS WAS PUBLISHED IF SO IGNORE- ITS OLD- WHEN I FIRST ARRIVED IN VZ WOW!! Caracas was certainly an experience!!! So at the last minute I managed to secure a couchsurfing host. Lily, was a godsend, but certainly not what I expected. This timid looking lovely lady turned out to be a courageous little fireball full of spunk, energy, and a touch of locura (craziness). But she was epically generous!! Super, super, super generous!! So I arrived in this fascinatingly contrasting, and very chaotic, country completely ignorant to just about everything. I mean I had heard rumours that Venezuela was now one of South America’s most dangerous countries (way far more than Colombia or Brazil), running wild with kidnappings and murders - and therefore it was previously on my x-list from travelling. ... read more

One of the greatest things about travelling is that you actually have time, time to live. Time to appreciate everything there is to appreciate, to do the things you want to do, to think about the things you need to think about, to just be, be yourself, without pressure, without judgement, just you. Touring Brasil was marvellous, spectacular.... Brasil is my heart. But also it was tiring... I began to feel sleepy all the time- I think it was because I was going to bed late, not too late, around midnight, but when I was going to bed at 10:30 I felt fantastic!! I also started to miss my family... well only a little (sorry guys, hehehe). More than that, I began to miss my friends, my life, rockcliimbing, my ex. I miss the wondrous life ... read more

At around 9 this morning, Ale and I went to a futsal club (they call it futbolito around here...little futbol) to meet some of his friends and play. It really is a little futbol and little field. It´s a little bigger than a basketball court, covered in supersoft rubber flakes, and they play 5 on 5. For those of you who don´t know, I do play back home, but I was a little worried that I was gonna get housed here! Thankfully, I held my own very well, scoring 4 goals and making some friends. They were all very friendly and tried to practice their english with me while I practiced my Spanish with them. SHOOT! They would say. Mala Mia, I would say (My Bad). Good times were had by all. I did suffer a ... read more
