Caracas airport advice

advice about getting around venezuela needed

I'm travelling to Venezuela mid/late march and am hoping to go direct from Caracas to Merida. Does anyone know if its possible to get a plane straight to Merida airport?

apparently it's not that simple!

any advice about venezuela would be hugely appreciated,

I know Merida airport was closed for sometime in 08 ,I dont know if it still is,but why dont you go by bus,the b uscamas are very good and cheapper than the airlines.I love Venezuela but one piece of advice I have to give to anyone travelling there is to be extremely carefull with money and your stuff Be discreet in the way you dress ,and dont put all your money in the same place.When you change your money(I strongly advise you to change it in the black market-it doubles your money)be extra carefull.Other than this ,Venezuela is great,people are super nice and one other thing about it is to always expect the unexpected !and enjoy yourself.
