Well, just kidding about the title. Today was a great day and the fact that it was a Monday was exciting because I know I have yet another fun and exciting week of adventure ahead of me. It´s not a pain for me to get up and go to work on Monday mornings...at 5:30 in the morning...with a bunch of loud, whiney kids...And, actually, it´s not. It´s very well worth it and I do love it!! You´ll have to catch up on the past few days of my journey. Starting right where I left off. FRIDAY (7-7) Well today was a different morning at school in that instead of class for a couple hours, we had a presentation/play from a group of Cubans involving stringed puppets and clowns. It was very entertaining and comical. They even ... read more

Yes, that´s right, not two days later, but three. Sorry to disappoint you all, but not so much has been "going down" lately. Let me just tell you about it. TUESDAY (7-4) The days are just flying by here. A week feels like a day, which is no wonder I´m so tired all the time. Luckily today was a relaxing day. I drank my juice and went to school in the morning and taught my classes of 1st and 7th graders. The seventh grade class whezeled their way out of taking their exam today and postponing it to Thursday, when the only other English classes are two third grade classes. So Thursday it is... After school and after a great lunch, thanks to Señora Maria, I had a nice little nap and chilled out for at ... read more

I´m terribly sorry for so much delay in my blogging, but it seems like every time I go to login in my accont, it doesn´t work. Since it´s already late and I have a lot to tell you, I´ll begin. I start from where I left off on yesterday. And thanks to my parents who helped me out with the pictures!! SUNDAY (7-2) I woke up to a cloudy morning and since I don´t have a clock in my room I judge the time by the sun. Today I was a little off, so to make up for lost time I skipped breakfast. We all headed outside to go to church and this was the first time I could honestly say I was cold. I had taken a shower that morning, so my hair was still ... read more

Finally got this blog published for you all to read. Sorry for the delay. And my pictures are up from my last blog if you´re intreseted in looking at those! 3 Yes, well, it´s the first day of July and I´m proud to say that not only have surrvived my first 20 days here in Ecuador, I´ve been loving every minute. Some days I wake up, look out the window, and can´t believe that I´m actually in Ecuador! It seems so unreal. Sometimes it´s scary thinking that I´m thousands and thousands of miles away from my family and friends, but it´s hard to find time to think when it´s so busy around here. I do miss you all, but I´m having the time of life. I think when my parents went to Ecuador this winter they ... read more

We got to Guayaquil in the hopes of getting a bus to Tumbes in Peru pretty soon after. After a little bit of wandering about and investigation we foudn the office of a bus company called Grupo Ormena who we were told were very good for transportation across the border into Peru (we´d heard it wasn´t a very easy crossing). When we went in we were basically sent away with a Spanish flea in our ear but couldn´t work out why the guy wouldn´t let us buy a ticket or tell us when we could catch the bus. Eventually after a bit of persistence with this guy (Mike said some incredibly derogatory things about him which I´ve been sworn never to repeat) we worked out the border was closed. We had the name of 2 hostels, ... read more

i don´t know what´s wrong with the pictures, but I´ll try and figure it out tomorrow...it´s late now! WEDNESDAY (6-28) Since I went to the finca today, I didn´t get to teach. But I had a great time at the farm and this time I didn´t get any mosquito bites! The cherries have ripened and are ready to eat, and believe me I couldn´t stop! The oranges were a bit tart, though every orange that I peeled I ended up feeding to the dogs. Those poor little things! I could count their ribs. Since I have Hotdog now (and I definitely know he´s not starving) I don´t really consider it weird for dogs to eat fruits and vegetables. Though it is very different. That´s how all the dogs are here. Lonely wandering the streets, starving, abandoned, ... read more

I know how excited you all must be to see that I have written yet another blog in such a short amount of time. The past two days have been super amounts of fun, though it´s not even 8 o´clock and I´m pooped. My eye lids are gaining pounds by the second, so I´ll hurry and tell you about the past two exciting days. Starting, of course, with Yesterday. MONDAY (6-26) During school today I taught my babies in K-class and later in the morning went upstairs to teach the sixth graders. It was a fun morning and the kids are just wonderful here. It´s so much fun talking with them, even if I have to tell them to slow down or be more clearer with their pronounciation. Practice makes perfect, and believe me these kids ... read more

Sorry that I couldn´t publish my work yesterday, but the system was failing for me, so here is my beautiful work that I´m sure you all are waiting for anxiously. The good news, though, is that you get to read two blogs in two days! Yay! Alright let me tell you about my weekend. Saturday (6-24) On this beautiful morning I woke only to have my stomach twisted and twirled inside my body. Or at least that´s what it felt like. We went to three different markets, all of which made me want to vomit. I had never seen meat hanging out the way they have it here in Ecuador. I can´t explain it. Or maybe I just don´t want to...thinking about it makes the disgusting fumes fill my nostrils yet again and turn my face ... read more

I am writing from Guayaquil, Ecuador’s largest city, located in the southern part of the country, just north of Peru. I’ll say more on Guayaquil soon. I’ve included a few more photos from Lima, and yes, none of them show much sun. It is just how Lima is this time of year. However, one day last week there actually was a day of partial sun which was terrific. The city just seemed so much more pleasant and the Miraflores section, where I am staying, felt a lot like Miami Beach. My blog entries are usual very upbeat and several people have commented that I rarely seem to have many “issues” in my travels whether it is getting lost or being ripped off, or some other issue. Well, that changes in this blog entry as I spent ... read more

Since it´s Friday night and also the same night I write blogs, I know all of you reading are anxiously awaiting the publishing of this entry, so I´ll hurry along! I couldn´t think of anything more exciting than reading a blog on a Friday night... Well, naturally, we´ll start with yesterday. YESTERDAY (6-22) Thursdays are nice because the only grade I teach is second. And they´re such an obidient class. Well, at least one of them is. Anyway, my very own country, USA, was playing Ghana in soccer at 9 I couldn´t even watch them! I kept eyeing the clock every so often calcuating how much time they´d been playing and how much time was left. Oh well, I thought to myself, there´s always reruns. So continued with class never putting my eye back on that ... read more
