Representing the red, white, and blue here on the 4th of July. Though I guess no one really though much of it...just anther gringa. Yes, that´s right, not two days later, but three. Sorry to disappoint you all, but not so much has been "going down" lately. Let me just tell you about it.
TUESDAY (7-4)
The days are just flying by here. A week feels like a day, which is no wonder I´m so tired all the time. Luckily today was a relaxing day. I drank my juice and went to school in the morning and taught my classes of 1st and 7th graders. The seventh grade class whezeled their way out of taking their exam today and postponing it to Thursday, when the only other English classes are two third grade classes. So Thursday it is...
After school and after a great lunch, thanks to Señora Maria, I had a nice little nap and chilled out for at the house for the most part the rest of the evening. The only time we left was to get a few groceries at the Riocentro Ceibos down the street. I was in a great mood while we were there because I just witnessed the fall of the homefield advantage in the World Cup. It was amazing to see Germany
Mis Bebés
Yes, well these are my sweeties from 1st grade and we were hangin out on Reunion Night. Some kids actually think that little girl is mine, haha. i wish--look at that face! Both!! fall to Italy within the last few minutes of the game today. I nearly went bisurk, with the rest of the neighborhood. I almost called myself crazy when I realized how loud I was being, but then when I stopped and listened there were chears from all over! It was good to see Germany fall, even though I don´t really favor either team. But, what a game! Whew, it took out a lot of energy in me...imagine what would´ve happened if I actually played. I probably would´ve had a heart attack! Though I calmed down after a couple of hours and when Dora came home we ate a little before calling it quits for the day.
WEDNESDAY (7-5)
Ah, the day I was most looking foward to. A morning at the farm and an afternoon of good soccer. Well today I had a lot of reasons to be disappointed!
First of all, after ariving at the school and leaving shortly after, the finca was filled with mosqitoes! I always thought that they were attracked to bright colors, so I wore all black. Apparently this is false information because I got so many bites I
No Se
This is what we decided to name this fruit thing. Which translates to "I don´t know"...because no one knows the name for it, if it even has one. though I was going to cry! And to make matters worse, there were no more cherries left on the cherry trees! Though it was good to see the dogs and other animals and I made sure they all got fed properly.
Returining home didn´t brighten my spirits. Though the food did a little, but food always brightens my spirits. The sad fact of the matter is, Portugal got jipped! They fell to France because those french brats are way too dramatic and didn´t deserve that PK. If it wasn´t for that, Portugal would be playing Italy on Sunday, not France. But now that it´s between Ita and Fra, I´m rooting for Italy, because they took down the germans and if Italy wins I can always say proudly "USA couldvé won too, it was just a matter of drawls.." since we tied Italy when we played them earlier in the WC. France suckered their way into the finals and kicked out Portugal along the way; they deserve to be beat! Although, it is fun to watch Zidane play on the field...and both teams are great, it´s just I had my heart on Brazil and Portugal for the finals and neither
Yumm
If you want fresh, delicious fruit straight from the farm, Ecuador is the place for you. Never before have I had such amazing foods. ...Ever... of them made it. It´s heartbreaking, really, and I have to say, overall, I´m not too happy with the results this time around in the WC. I´ll tell you how I feel in four more years.
Well, sadly, Señora Loyola wasn´t feeling up to going out this evening, so it was just Señor Loyola and I. First we went to get some meds at the local pharmacy for his wife and then we picked up a few misc groceries before heading back to the house to change cars. We had to do it real quick too because it was already 5:30 and we needed to be at the school at 6 that night for the parents Reunion and discussion about the upcoming exams later this month.
While the meetings were taking place in each classroom, the children who had to come with their parents stayed in the open area, I referr to as the gym. I watched and played with them all as we waited for their parents. It was just my luck that two of my favorite sweethearts from 1st grade were both there and I got to hang out with them for most of the night.
Random House
I don´t know what this is made out of, but it sure is different. Very pretty and creative. I liked it uh lot! I juggled in a circle with some 6th and 7th grade boys and gossiped with the 6th and 7th grade girls. It was a fun night, though I was glad when we finally left! I slept well that night!
THURSDAY (7-6)
Like I said on Tuesday, all I had today was third grade, and of course, when I finished up with them, I headed upstairs to test my HUGE 7th grade class of 52 students. It was difficult and usually I lose my voice, though when I get loud, they get impressed and shut up, so I guess it works.
I got a call from Tia Toyita today after another great lunch, and it was good to hear from her. Soon I´ll be visiting her and meeting other parts of my family as well. I can´t wait! They´re such great people. I love my family, haha.
We needed to buy a few things today, so we all climbed in the new Chevy and headed off to Biayas. Suprisingly, I didn´t buy anything, but I guess I was trying to make up for the last time I went. Since there´s so many people here, I felt most comfortable walking in front of the Loyolas where they could see me. They got a huge kick out of the way the men here reacted when they saw me, and even bigger kick on the way I responded to their actions. For the most part, I´d pretend not to hear them and make it seem as if I was looking right through them instead of at them. Sometimes I´d simply turn the other cheek or look down at my feet. Though that was mainly for the locals around. When the guys selling things would approach me, I´d have to say something, so I casually told him "no, gracias," and kept going. The majority of the time I didn´t know what they were saying because I´m sure they were talking in some kind of slang, but I could pick out a few words that I wanted to steer clear of and when I did, I turned around to face the Loyolas with a bewildered expression on my face and grabbed on to an arm. Señor Loyola laughed and laughed because he obviously understood what they were saying, but he always thought I was saying thank you to the guys who complimented me when I was saying no thank you to what I thought was someone trying to sell me something. We all laughed for quite a while over that.
Though the laughing ended when Dora called and said she had been in an accidnet, sort of. A bus had cut her off, forcing her to go into the car beside her, though luckily it only messed up the front of the car, which she does not have to pay for, considering it wasn´t her fault. It was still all so crazy though. We met her at a car gargae right down the street from the school. At the school we keep a seperate car there for going to the finca in. Dora and I drove home together in that car and she´ll be using it tomorrow to go to work in. Poor thing! Though she´s alright, thank God.
We stopped for yogurt and bread on the way home. I´m telling you, I´ve never seen so many yogurt stores in my life! On the streets and in shopping centers, everywhere! It´s like ice cream stores for us...times 30! I´m not complaining though, because it´s still delicious and it´s a lot more healthy too! And when I got home I ate my bread with a fruit that tasted like canalope, but didn´t look anything like one. They simply called it melón, but I´m going to stick with canalope, haha.
Well the my eyelids are getting heavier and heavier, so forgive if I´ve left anything out, but it is time for me to hit the sack, so I´ll talk to you all soon!
Unitl next time,
Shir

Mosquitoes (Mosquitos)
Honey to avoid being bitten always wear the insect repellant when you go to the finca. You brought one with you and if you used it all, please purchase some more. I also, wored jeans and a long sleeve jacket to protect myself from mosquitoes. If you are bitten badly please avoid scratching and try rubbing on calamine or use hydrocortisone cream, if you don't have it, please purchase that too. Viva the 4th of July! You girls look adorable! I think of You so often, My little gooserroo And I always say a little prayer that God will bless you and keep you safe.
