Yes, that´s right...it´s the middle of the week, Wednesday, which means today is humpday! I´m so worn out too...oh well, let´s start with yesterday: YESTERDAY (6-20) ***Ecuador vs. Germany*** Germany wins 3-0...a tough game, tough loss. Even though during the game, while I was watching, it seemed that for the most part, during the game, we had great posession of the ball, and made good choices. At least our offense made good choices. I think Ecuador has a very strong midfield and good attackers, but the problem lies on their defense. They have an amazing keeper, for the majoritiy of the time, that´s not the problem. And their defense has supurb acceracy...it´s just they can´t really read the game well and don´t know what to do half the time. Talent is great, but what good is ... read more

Yesterday (6-18) Being that today was Sunday, you can only assume what I did this morning. Yes, that´s right, I went to church! It was quite an interesting service that lasted from 7 in the morning until 8. My church at home doesn´t even begin worship until 9:30, so you can imagine just how much my sleeping patterns have changed. Or have tried to change. As you can see, I write my blogs late at night, but I wake at 5:30 each morning. The only thing keeping me from passing out is my daily afternoon naptime. Oh, how I miss naptime that I had when I was younger at GSG or when I was in Kingegartin. Then on one wanted to take a nap, but now when you´re older and you could really use...you can´t. That´s ... read more

Yesterday (6-16) Since today is Friday and Sunday is Father´s Day, today was our day to celebrate El Dia de los Padres. The first part of the morning was filled with excitment as the kids and their parents came for an assembley and prizes and presents were given away to the lucky daddies. There was also a puppet show for the kids to watch during the assembley. Before the assembley began, I got to meet my mom´s cousin, my second cousin. I could tell by looking at her before meeting her that she resembled the Crespo family quite closely. She seems like a sweet young lady. Also, before the morning celebration began, two of my students presented me with a pair of earrings, a ring, a braclet, a mini stuffed animal, and a pair of hair ... read more

Yesterday (6-14) After I woke and went to the school with the Loyolas, Señor Loyola and I went to the farm that he owns right outside of Guayaquil. It was beautiful! Simply breathtaking! I´ve never seen so many exotic plants and flowers at one time. The veggitation was incredible. There were so many fruits and veggies and we ate them there at the farm and more when we got home. Along with the plants, there were many amimales there as well. Cows, birds, chickens, dogs, cats, etc. No wonder my dad loved the finca so much! They call it La Finca Ormiga, and it is a wonderful sight. Today I talked more with the children at the school when we returned from the farm. The kids here are so nice and caring! It´s great to ... read more

YESTERDAY: My first day in Ecuador couldn´t have been better. I arrived at the Simon Bolivar Aeropuerto at 5:15 in the morning with anxious family and friends awaiting my arrival. Since I was seated in 6F (by the window-yay) I was one of the last ones on the plane, but the good part was that I was among the first off. I quickly got my luggage and met my party and began my journey in the beautiful country of Ecuador. Continental made my flight nice and easy, and was a great way to begin my amazing first day. My host family, the Loyolas, are the sweetest people I´ve ever met! They´re so kind and caring and very, very considerate. They brought me back to the house after saying goodbye to other members of my extended ... read more

Hey guys! It feels weird typing in English now that I've spent the last 24 hours talking in Spanish. Everything that goes through my head now is translated to my elemetary level Spanish. Right now I'm at la Escuela Semillita and I thought I'd write a short blog to you guys before I get the chance to write in full at my ¨house¨. Everything went well on my trip and plane ride was awesome. I met some really interesting people from Cuenca and will hopefully get the chance to visit them later during my stay here in Ecuador. Well I don´t want to write too much until later tonight, but I thought I´d let you all know that I´m doing very well and love the people that I´m staying with. So far it´s been phenomial, but ... read more

In 24 hours I'll be boarding my plane to my destination in South America. It's hard to believe that my trip is finally here! I am now offically a high school senior and am feeling quite glorious. I have extremely mixed feelings about my trip for tomorrow. Anxious...nervous...excited...scared...happy & sad feelings. It was hard to say goodbye to my friends and I know it'll be even harder saying bye to my family. Though I look forward to the experience bestowed upon me this summer of 2006. A "mezcla" between work and play best defines this wonderful oppertunity given to me for the next two months. I'm so extatic about my trip...and the fact that I'll be leaving within the hour to go! Until next time, 3 Shir ... read more

Hi everybody, Sorry I haven´t been blogging much recently. We´ve been busy leaving Pucallpa and heading off to Ecuador, after spending New Year´s Day in Lima (not that anybody was worried....) Now were in Guayaquil, a coastal town of Equador, and tomorrow we´re off to Riobamba to take the famous train that goes to Alausi and then round the "Devil´s Nose". The weather here is f***ing hot and the country seems more developed than Peru. ... read more
